Hatton is a good boxer, leagues about Calzaghe, and imo, the Best British Boxer. But imo, he is a WW, not a LW. I mean he weight drains soo much just to make it to 140, and top of that, he does not even come into the ring at 140, but, according to him, 150+. I don't see why he says he is "Not a natural Welter", when it would probably be easier for him at WW and LW. It is most likely he is ducking the competition there, but that is another story. End of the day, he may have not had that many big wins, but he has several more than Joe has ever had. Joe has never had one career defining bout. Hatton has had several. Don't get me wrong, he is a very good fighter. But I just don't think that someone with his style can beat someone as skillful as Pacquiao. I felt the same way vs Mayweather Jr. Hatton is a bully in the ring and will just maul his opponents, but if he faces really tough opposition he will not win. I think all of the top boxers in WW would easily beat him, as well as some guys who aren't on the top (Collazo :ugh1:, Judah- who would also beat him at Jr. WW). Yes, he is a natural Jr. Welterweight but I don't even think he's that great at that weight class. He looked like shit in his comeback fight after the Mayweather Jr. loss (was it Jesus Chavez?), and he may have beat Paulie Malinaggi, but that guy is a feather fisted bitch. I knew going into that fight that Hatton was gonna bully his way to a win. Hatton does the same thing over and over, he moves his head a little in the beginning, then he just starts lunging in with some hooks and ties the guy up. Mayweather Jr. saw this and was able to time him perfectly as he was coming in again and again with right hands, and then that beautiful check-hook. Expect for Pacman to do the same thing, although this time the punches will be faster and harder and Pac won't be running away the whole time like Floyd. Pacquaio by KO within 8. I'm didn't start this thread to piss anyone off, it's just how I feel. I like Hatton a lot, he's actually one of my favorites, but I just don't think he's one of the best. looking at his record,its hard 2 say he is over-rated IMO.he has more big names on it than calzaghe who was rated p4p no.3 until he retired

The only reason i rate Hatton is because he has limited skills as a boxer but he seem to have achieve more than the skills he has at his disposal. Same here.

I think some English people do over-rate Hatton, partly because we have no real boxing hero at the moment, and also because Hatton is such an affable fellow who does huge amounts for charity. I know he is a two weight WORLD Champion, but he is definitely not in Pacquiao's league and will receive a beating from the smaller man like De La Hoya did. The last truly great British fighters (people who won huge numbers of World title fights such as Lewis and Calzaghe) have retired.

Hatton has some of the best footwork i have ever seen, along with amazing ability to cut the ring off. I also noticed improved head movement in the Paulie fight, he only resorted back to old tactics in the later part of the fight when he knew Paulie couldnt hurt him. Pacman is a great fighter, but he does leave plenty of openings for straight punches, and he too also has a tendency to lunge in as well. This fight will be competitive, and could go either way. You need to watch more fights if that is the case.

It sure is funny how it is conveniently forgotten that half the people on this board picked Castillo to beat Ricky. And Ndou didn't get his ass kicked by Witter. It was a competitive fight. I think the commentry on the castillio fight has influenced alot of the Castillio is shot thinking, I think it was lampray said Castillio was shot and took a knee cos he was only there for the money. Then it turned out Hatton busted four of his ribs.

To be fair, the vast majority of the people on this board said that Ricky Hatton would get his arse kicked by the speedy, Brooklyn hard man Paulie Malignaggi. 35% did. The surprising thing about that fight is that hatton outboxed Paulie, I don't think anyone expected that. After the overhand right in round two, Paulie wanted nothing more of that fight and just wanted to protect himself from then on.

Hatton was overrated until Floyd knocked him out, he was then very underrated... he's probably just little underated from his true worth at the mo' imo... He's perhaps one of the few big boxers rated around his actual real level at the mo' - for the time being anyway.

As a proud Englishman who loves American boxers in general and who is not biased in his analysis of boxers' skills, I have to admit that some of my fellow countrymen do over-rate the world champion Ricky Hatton. top quality fighters is what i meant. i never specified RANKINGS!! you as a boxing fan should know those are not top fighters. castillo yes. but at that time no. maussa never. lazcano was good at lightweight yrs ago. paulie solid. urango solid as well. in my opinion there were more credible fighters at that time for ricky to face.
