Clottey is going to win if they fight, I just know it, Clottey is the bigger, more durable man, and Cotto has had his toughest challenges against those kind of guys(Mosley, Margarito). Clottey is also the best defender he has ever faced, and if Cotto could find Margarito's body, he's going to have a hard time finding Clottey. Clottey will counter punch Cotto more then he has ever been, nobody has ever done that very effectively to Cotto for a whole fight. Torres did a good job but his chin is weak, Gomez countered Cotto very well at times but he hits just as hard as Malignaggi. I'm suprised Mosley isn't as good of a counterpuncher, but Clottey will land impressive combos. Clottey could eat Cotto's power too. He's fought strong guys in the past. Clottey got this, June 13th, you'll see.I don't think Clottey has ever fought anybody with the devastating power that Cotto brings so I doubt he'll be willing to "eat Cotto's power". Clottey will stand and fight Cotto (according to his interview) and that will work to Cotto's advantage. The fact that Cotto didn't find Margo was something Cotto admitted was his fault. Margo's head was so easy to find that Cotto admitted he didn't look to the body as much as he normally would have.
Maybe but Cotto has much better footwork and speed i just cant see Clottey winning down the stretch just my opinion.
Footspeed, yes, but there handspeed is pretty even. Look guys Clotty is no slouch, and he throws quick combos on the inside. Vey evenly matched when it comes to skill, but when I look at the intangibles, I see Clotty having the upperhand. May the best man win though.
Where will Clotty be when Cotto is digging those shots to his body? After a few solid Uppercuts I don't think Cotto will be attacking the body much.

I agree and Cotto will dig the body so hard and often he will slow Clottey way down. Cotto by UD

Don't agree. All that size and durability doesn't mean shit if he doesn't put the pressure on Cotto. And Clottey can't sustain the amount of pressure needed to really trouble Cotto too much.

Clotty won't be blocking punches with his face, unlike margarito he is hard to land cleanly on. Fights kind of like Quartey, but without the bazooka jab. IMO he beats Cotto.
I agree with the first part. I don't think Cotto hurts Clottey unless it's to the body, and Clottey's arms are long enough where he covers his body up pretty well when he's in that shell, so even that's a long shot.
But Cotto's an accurate counter puncher and will be more active. That's why I think he'll pull out the decision.
Cotto isn't faster than Clottey. He hits harder but he has slower hands.
I think they are about the same. I dont know where this thing about clottey being slow started though.

Great fight. Cotto is a skilled fighter and will outwork clottey with his constant pressure and punishing body shots. Clottey has a solid defense but will not throw enough punches to match cottos stanmia, also does not have the power to seriously threaten cotto's plan of coming forward to make the fight. This fight is by far the most competitive between the two other oponents. Business wise cotto should fight cintron. To add to his record, Berto (easiest of the three). Most entertaining Clotty.
I'm not sure I really want to see this fight as these two guys are my favourite at 147. If I had to give a slight edge to either it would be Cotto but it would be one hell of a fight that is for sure.
I feel the same way, but I will be happy no matter who wins just as long as it is convincing enough.

Clottey makes it a close-close fight. I think that he is the only boxer who can do it; Cintron gets seriously embarrassed AGAIN and Berto just gets hurt.
Agreed on most things but while Clottey's combinations may be faster, but I think Cotto has the edge in getting off his punches first in most occasions. Mosely stated that Cotto's speed was surprising and is what threw him off in the fight. Clottey just happens to throw more combinations in his fights. Whatever the case Clottey isn't a bad matchup for Cotto in anyway other than it could be a fight that he can lose. I doubt that Clottey has the guns to cause any lasting physical damage and he'll still be the betting favorite.
Yeah, that's why I said Cotto's timing is more than enough to make up for it. The fight definitely isn't a mismatch, I think it can go either way.
I don't think so, Clottey lets his hands go for combination's quicker, he ripped Margarito with 4-5 punch combination and triple left hooks early and mid way through the fight. He isn't that much faster than Cotto, but he is still significantly quicker. I don't think it will make a huge difference though because Cotto's timing more than makes up for it.Agreed on most things but while Clottey's combinations may be faster, but I think Cotto has the edge in getting off his punches first in most occasions. both guys hands speed are about the same
