That was an entertaining read. I have heard Cotto say he wanted to fight Mayweather before. Cotto did not duck Mayweather. Regardless, Floyd will not fight him. I'm sure he can make more money fighting Pac or Hatton again if he decides to come out of retirement. Too bad, Mayweather would have boxed circles around Cotto IMO.
Except the part where electrode said Floyd made over 60 million for the hatton fight...
I dont know where people get there figures.. but hes about 40 million off...
I actually think the exact opposite. I think Floyd's hand speed is tremendously underrated nowdays. Now I think anyone with half a brain should know that his hand speed was crazy at the lower weights. If you dispute that or think alot of guys are clos then you are insane. However, I think his hand speed is still alot better at the higher weights the people give him credit for and I talk about this alot. I say that he only looks alot slower or not that fast because he's fighting bigger guys which makes him only throw one punch at a time or pot shot while at the same time he's fighting at a measuered pace.
You get what Im saying? You would still think he was super fast if he was fighting uptempo and throwing a whole bunch of punches but he hasnt fought that way against the bigger guys so it makes him look slow. Everyone keeps talking about 130 & 135 but even look at his fights at 140 with Chop & Gatti. He was super fast then and most of all, he was super aggressive. Now he doesnt use that same style at WW so it makes him look slower. Ofcourse he's not going to be as fast as a 30yo WW compared to what he was as a 22yo Jr. LW but he's still really fast. You just cant tell as much because of his style but let him fight smaller guys, or go down to 140, or even fight bigger guys who cant push him around like Clottey and I bet you will see some blazing hand speed again.
Good observation.

notice how i said cotto CAN be as fast as floyd
IMO, he isnt normally as fast because he commits more to his punches.
Cotto isnt as fast as floyd, and cant be... cotto isnt slow at all.. but floyd edges him in overall speed... whether cotto is trying to be fast or not...
what cotto has is excellent timing
Maybe at 147 it's a bit overrated but at 135 no way that point is valid. He was insane fast at lightweight. I think Judah at 147 was faster than Floyd.
yeah I agree and what floyd has also is timing! something that can give an illusion that hes faster than he actually is:boxing::boxing:

Truthfully speaking with PBF sitting down on his punches and Cotto not sitting down on his punches PBF is still way faster than Cotto.
I have no problem with you saying PBF speed is overrated. But to mention PBF, Cotto and speed being close is just not a good comparison no matter how you try to slice it.
I'd say it's rated fairly accurately. Still top 10, maybe even top 5 speed among championship-caliber fighters, although fighting at 147 has taken a bit of the edge off.
so how does this statement make sense if cotto was beating mosley to the punch all night.
Cotto's timing was very good, and Mosley's defense isn't that good to begin with.
so how does this statement make sense if cotto was beating mosley to the punch all night.
it's called timing... cotto has better timing.. that or cotto's rhythm offset mosley's rhythm.
At 147 its not ridiculous fast. Shane has faster hands at 147. If ur talking 140 and below tho Floyd's handspeed is top notch. And even at 147 he has faster hands than Cotto.
so how does this statement make sense if cotto was beating mosley to the punch all night.
Yes, he's fast but IMO Cotto can be just as fast.
What Floyd has in abundance is accuracy.
Yes 100% agree.
I have said this for ages, he is quick, but p4p he is not as quick as guys like Jones,Mosley,Judah or even Meldrick Taylor.
