I automatically assume ur a boxing fan if u box but i guess thats not always the case, sometimes ur just really good at something that dont particuarly intrest u. Cotto and Jermain Taylor spring to mind and also the Indestructable Gary Lockett as fighters who arent really fans of the sport, odd.
Cotto in particular is an odd one as he seems to have a sense of his place in history and a deep respect for the game. I thought it was pure class the night he won his first title when he had All the other Puerto Rican former champions names on his trunks.
Who else fights but isnt a fan? Past or present. And also do u think its a disadvantage or not?
they all love boxing, why else would one take the punishment?
Money money money honey!
Hey didnt Chris Eubank say he was against boxing? I could be wrong on that one
Article on Moorer helping out Roach
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Moorer, New Assistant Trainer at Wild Card Gym
Former world heavyweight champion Michael “Double M” Moorer is the newest addition to trainer Freddie Roach’s world famous Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Roach informed insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports that Moorer is his new assistant trainer and has begun “working at the gym” along with conditioning guru Alex Arriza which makes it a truly formidable team.
The southpaw Moorer whose last fight was a 1st round KO of Shelby Gross in the United Arab Emirates on February 8 last year is 41 years old and has a ring record of 52-4-1 with 40 knockouts.
He won the WBO heavyweight title with a 5th round TKO over Bert Cooper on May 15, 1992 and then won the WBA and IBF titles with a majority decision over Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield on April 22, 1994.
Moorer lost his titles when he was knocked out in the 10th round by the awesome puncher George Foreman on November 5, 1994 but came back to win the IBF title with a victory over Germany’s Axel Schulz on June 22, 1996.
Moorer then suffered an 8th round TKO and lost his WBA and IBF titles in a rematch with Holyfield on November 8, 1997.
Roach’s former assistant Justin Fortune, also a heavyweight who once fought Lennox Lewis, left the Wild Card some two years ago and set up his own gym also in Los Angeles.

Erm im not sure but i think mabey he's just not a fan of Actually fighting himself, Atlas said MM hated boxing
I would say
Sugar Ray Robinson
Miguel Cotto
Jermain Taylor
I don't know about Michael Moorer, I see him all the time on Friday Night fights plus I hear he's training fighters with Roach now.
Agreed, Your not going anywhere unless you love to train and compete.
I think a lot of guys might not like the watching other people compete as much, or might not like certain aspects of the sport liking hurting people, criticism, etc. I would think that almost all fighters at the highest level have some love for boxing, its hard to get there if you dont.
hes great anyway
hes had his ups and downs with training but he wouldnt have got this far in the game without training hard at some point
james is a true student of the game, ive heard him in interviews talk about how many tapes of walcott etc he watched and it shows as he has copied and built on a lot of their moves
and he loves to spar, thats pretty much all he does these days
Sparring is what i mainly used to do as well, thats coz i couldnt be arsed going out running!
James does seem like a guy who knows the game inside out and loves the Old Skool fighters. To be honest i havent heard him say he dont really like boxing
Didn't Michael Moorer dislike boxing as a whole?
I'm pretty sure he did at the end of his career(s), at the very least.
Good one! Forgot about him, thats what im getting at anyway fighters who wouldnt really watch boxing or read about it Unless they were fighters
nah trust me they are all students of the game
some of them just say that, like james toney said his favourite sport is football. i love james but thats BS coming from him. the dude probably spent half of his life in front of a tv watching old tapes of walcott, charles, trying out new moves, sparring in the ring etc
you dont get that far in the sport without loving it
Dunno man Toney just has god given talent, guy barely even trains half the time, imagine how good he woulda been if he trainned like a guy who LOVED his trainning and every aspect of the fight game
