They would top Puerto Rico, they would top the U.S., they would top Europe! They MIGHT EVEN, but that's a BIG might, even top Mexico.
What are your all thoughts?
There are a lot of variables.
What if pro boxing was allowed, and then people boxers the amateurs and went staright pro? They would not be as skilled. A lot of Cuban olympic boxers have been amatuer for years and are usually in their mid 20's. British, American, and European olympic boxers are usually very young and have not had the same amount of experience. Thats probably why Cuba fares so good.
If you ask me, Cuba would turn into a moderate olympic nation, and a moderate pro nation. No way would they be p4p the best.
I agree with this post....
the only good thing about this thread is that youu remind everyone whos the p4p world champion developer in the world!!!

I havent read the whole thread so maybe someone said it before me.
The Pros are a completly different game. Whilst Cuba does have great talent, pros are pros and amatures are amatures.
One of the reasons for amature talent in Cuba is because its a government program, because these guys do it since they were kids.
Professional boxing is not a government sponsored/controller program, its just different.
It's hard to say, there are a lot of very good Cuban amateur boxers but it's almost impossible to say how they would adapt to the pro style, people are forgetting that there have been quite a few hyped Cuban amateur stars who turned out to be only decent pros, like Ramon Garbey, Jorge Luis Gonzalez and Yan Barthelemy.
All Gold Medalists. Just cuz they were good Amatuers means they shouldn't have been good Pros? is that what ur saying???
If that is really what you got from my post you are in no position to call me an idiot.
Are you serious, bro? I generally like you, Perro. You speak your mind and usually think things through.
So I am an idiot because I have a rational reason for not agreeing with you?
And did I say that being a successful amateur fighter means you wont be successful as a pro?
Cubans are trained from the ground up to be successful in the AMATEUR ranks. The American fighters you mentioned are trained to be as successful as then can as Ams and eventually break pro ranks, that is a fact.
The Cuban "Spartan lifestyle" I alluded to is also a large part of their success. If you dont believe me, ask anyone who knows anything about Cuban boxing.
It would be a good idea to actually think about the oppositions point of view before calling them an idiot, Perro.
Lets put it into simpler context, would the recent LHW Olympic Champion beat Chad Dawson if they were to sign the fight tomorrow? Everyone knows the Olympian would be a HUGE underdog, hence the reason promoters take the time to develop successful Amateurs under Pro ranks.
No, they wouldnt. Two reasons/
1) Cubans dominate the Amateur ranks, a lot of shit does not fly in the Ams that does in the pros. Also, Am fights are 4 rounds, 2 minutes each. You put them in for 12, three minute rounds with a salty veteran and that would get rid of a lot of them.
2) Part of what makes the Cubans so good is their Spartan lifestyle. They train at boxing academies, they focus almost their entire self into being a great fighter all day every day. That and they are dirt poor, and hungry as hell to win. If you start giving them big paychecks, the Spartan lifestyle wanes, and we see more Ricky Hatton types, partying and living it up while only focusing as much during training camps.
If Cubans were all allowed to go pro right now, the ranks would swell with Cuban fighters. We would not see, however, as many Cubans rising to the elite level as some might think. Some would make it, many would fail.
Spartan Lifestyle, lol.

Just cuz Cubans are good in the Amateurs means they would suck in the pros? What about Oscar, what about Leonard, what about Foreman, what about Frazier, what about Ali???

mexico was ruined by pacman. He defeated eric morales, barrera, diaz, and oscar de la hoya. Than donaire knocked out vic, and vic beat up mijares and arce. Followed by solo boxeo retreating to azteck america like grown babies. Afterward, mexico got their comeback win by giving margarito (the pawn), plaster of paris, who had a short regin on the top pound for pound list until sugar shane mosley. I know i mixed the order up, but it's late.
Pinoys defeated the mexicans already, they should no longer fight each other for a long time. Pacman should face miguel cotto for rights to a mayweather match.
...............................what?
Yet again, you are basing your entire argument on conjecture. You listen to Teddy Atlas way too much.
That said, I'm out on this one. I'm reminded of the old saying........
Because you proved yourself to be an idiot. Good Bye, have a nice day. :bryce:
Cuban prospects get much hype but how many reach the top?
You know that there are only about 1-3 Cuban prospects every 4 years because they cannot fight professionally? Right?
I'm saying that if they were allowed to turn pro just like eveyone else, they would be the best at the sport.
Do you all understand that they cannot turn pro?
OK you idiot. But my point is Cubans are not allowed to turn pro. The only Cubans that have turned pro have defected from Cuba. I'm saying that if they were given the same opportunities as everyone else, they would take over boxing. Do you get it now dummy?

Never argue with a moron, they will bring you down to their level, and then beat you with experience.

"Has"? It's still happening as I type this........
Ring Magazine P4P rankings
1.) Pacquiao - Philippines
2.) Marquez - Mexico
3.) Hopkins - USA
4.) Vazquez - Mexico
5.) Mosley - USA
6.) Marquez - Mexico
7.) Calderon - Puerto Rico
8.) Hatton - England
9.) Caballero - Panama
10.) Darchinyan - Armenia
6 of the top 10 fighters in the sport right now are from one of the 3 nations you said Cuba would "top".
OK you idiot. But my point is Cubans are not allowed to turn pro. The only Cubans that have turned pro have defected from Cuba. I'm saying that if they were given the same opportunities as everyone else, they would take over boxing. Do you get it now dummy?
Top USA, but might top Mexico haha hehe...
No one gets away with topping the USA.
PR gets topped by Mexico, Mexico gets topped by Pinoys, Pinoys get toped by Cuba?
lol Mexico gets topped by Pinoys ha ha ha...
Aside from Pac what other Pinoys have been in the p4p list...get your facts straight.
C'mon if you guys(Pinoys) don't produce anymore talent other than Pac than you'll be back into obscurity as soon as pac retires
