And he said Pacquiao hit harder. The fighter is a welterweight prospect named Said El Harrak, 3-0 (1 KO) and trained by Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. He's fighting in a 4-rounder on the Nate Campbell-Ali Funeka card. Here is what he had to say.
"Pacquiao by far. Someone asked me at the Margarito camp and I said Pacquiao because speed develops power. Pacquiao is much faster. Margarito can punch but he's very slow. If he brought more speed with it, the impact would be harder than a Pacquiao punch.
"Pacquiao's punch comes so fast and so precise, it's amazing. He hit me the hardest I've ever been hit and I've been in the ring with cruiserweights."
Watch for my article on this fighter next week.
I dont care what anyone says. He was terrified to throw his right hand against Hatton.
Very true. In fact I remember at one point he hit Hatton flush on the face with a right hand and it seemed to affect Hatton. Too bad he doesn't have a left hook.
On the topic. Speed definitely kills. Manny throws those straights with such speed and snap that it has to be devastating. It always hurts more when you dont see the punch coming. It ****s with your phyche too because it keeps you guessing. Makes you hesitant to fire back as much.
I agree, it's a shame that Malignaggi's hands just can't withstand the force of punching somebody with 10 oz gloves on. Malignaggi is the classic case of a gun-shy fighter. If he had enough power to keep people off of him, he might still be undefeated.
Personally, I think Malignaggi has gotten as far as he could with his hands being as brittle as they are. I wouldn't want to see him get beat up in this sport. Maybe a few farewell fights should be in order, or if he'd be content keeping it on the local scene in NY, that'd be much sounder.

Corley hit like a beast.
Awful finisher.
I like those underrated bangers. Chris Eubank was another one, he had geniune 1-punch KO power but he never used it - almost knowingly. Complex character.
I agree completely, Corley is a very underrated puncher. He just didn't know what to do when he had his man hurt. He also hurt Mayweather worse than any other fighter has in the pros.
lmfao, what a load of bullshit and LOL at the suckers who believe this troll.
It wouldn't bode well for me to make these sorts of things up, especially since I'm hardly anonymous and a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America. I've never fabricated a story about the sport of boxing and I don't intend to do so now.
who said that?
It'd be a nice touch if it was Castillo.
I don't think Hatton is a big banger apart from his left hook to the body and that leaping punch that is the most idiotic punch that any world-class fighter has ever thrown, and get's him hurt, more often than not. Damn near decapitated Carlos Maussa with it though. lol
The prospect, Said El Harrak. He's actually a Vegas-based English fighter of Moroccan descent. Here are some clips of his pro fights.
I think David Tua hits harder than the average cruiserweight.
I'd say that is a safe assumption, Hawk.
As others have said. Speed can make up for shortcomings in size.
I'm not surprised. Margarito is not that strong of a puncher and could be one of the reasons he attempted to cheat. All of Margs ko's come from accumulation of punches and wearing down his opponent. Demarcus Corley has more raw power than Antonio Margarito imo.

Asked about Hatton's power, here's what he said:
"I don't want to be rude, but I wouldn't know because he barely touched me."

Again, it also has to do with which shots Hakkad was getting hit with. Usually, if I'm fighting a much taller opponent, I don't worry much about their hooks, 'cause they're usually just arm punching. Uppercuts, on the other hand, are just generally painful compared to other punches.
Especially when you're preparing for punches coming around the sides and you put your guard up and catch an uppercut to the nose. Isn't much you can do about that.
But I agree, I was surprised that I took the body shots as well as I did since I don't like them in general lol
I know exactly what you're talking about. I spar with dudes of all different sizes. I sparred a 280 pound heavyweight with 50 fights 2 weeks ago and my nose is still sore from an uppercut I took. I've never felt the effects of a guy my size for 2 weeks.
I don't like allowing anyone have free shots at my head or body, that shit doesn't appeal to me. I understand completely what you're talking about, though.
If he hits like a CW why does he only have a 66% KO rate at 130?
Either a 1/3 of 130lb'ers have developed 200lber chins or the prospect was facing a crap CW.
I'm assuming this was what Hakkar or Hakkad was experiencing. Now, if it was one of those cruiserweights who have a low center of gravity, ala David Tua, I bet Hakkad or Hakkar would be singing a different tune.
I think David Tua hits harder than the average cruiserweight.
Anyone who knows anything about boxing will say speed and accuracy kills - look at all the greats, they all have this. Margaritos main assets were an iron chin and great engine (.....plus.... add plaster related gag here....!!) not power.
Anyway, Hatton has been in with THE most accurate, straight puncher in the world. It didn't work out that well for him! But Manny is no Floyd, and the experience of being in with the best has taught Ricky alot - why do you think he's changed training regimes etc. I think Ricky can win this fight, He knows Pac hits hard and fast and will improve his head movement and catching of straight shots as he knows mauling and grappling a man with such immense stamina won't work.
I expect a great fight, and if Ricky believes in his main strengths (quick jab, body work, intelligent in fighting) he can win this.
what do you mean submission?! if DLH was to go anymore rounds, he would have gotten blasted! in fact, Pac was blasting him with so much power punches the whole fight, DLH had to go to the hospital right after the fight. fortunately, hes okay. it did look like blood was coming out his ear tho.
"Submission" because Oscar wasn't actually KOd, he could have been and was quite damaged, but didn't, hence the word. Hopkins stopped a prime DLH, I just don't think that he is still has the resistance displayed against guys like Trinidad or Mosley. In all honesty, Cotto, Berto or Mosley probably have a decent shot to KO a weight-drained DLH at this moment.
My guess is that the wraps did the difference between sparring and fight night. If Pac could hit more than a cruiserweight or enough to KO a Cotto, he could have just blasted DLH instead of punishing him into submission.

Remember, the only guy to knock out DLH beforehand was a middleweight turned light-heavyweight named Bernard Hopkins.
