Golden Boy Promotions has a golden opportunity to really put their best foot forward on March 7. I think they're off to a good start, but let's hope they find a real opponent for Robert Guerrero. From what I've seen I'm not convinced they'll get one.
Apparently, the card is going to be at the HP Pavillion in San Jose. That's good. It's going to be headlined by Robert Guerrero. That's fine. But they offered the fight to Jesus Chavez (couldn't they find a better opponent than him?) and Chavez turned the fight down. All is not lost, but if they don't find someone liver than Chavez who also has some credentials this could end up being a joke.
The co-feature of James Kirkland-Joel Julio is a solid fight. Apparently Viv Harris is out and Victor Ortiz will now be facing Mike Arnaoutis instead. That's another good fight and probably an upgrade from the original plan. But Golden Boy has a real opportunity here and it looks like they're going to shelter Guerrero a little. If they'd just put him in with a top 10 fighter (Jorge Barrios maybe) he could shine and really be ready for big fights.
blab judah r u serious!
He's been my favorite since about '98. I don't jump on and/or off bandwaggons. So, I'm going to ride this one for a little longer. Tell you the truth though, I'm about ready for Jorge Linares or Andre Ward to be my favorite fighter...lol. Somebody needs to get one of them a big fight to seal the deal.
Whoa whoa whoa, what the ****? When did this happen?
Pretty recently. Dan Rafael reported it in his chat and boxrec had in both yesterday. So, my guess is that it couldn't have happened earlier than Thursday.
