Can Khan be the next Brit to beat an old legend to secure his HOF credentials

All the way up until this point people have been complaining how Khan has only been fighting bums, Barrera is a HUGE step up in class, even if he perhaps hasnt got the stamina or speed anymore, he has the wealth of ring experience, a rediculously durable granite chin and knockout power etc. It wasnt that long ago that he took the current P4P number one and JMM full 12 rounds. A year ago, people pretty much already knew the outcome of Khans fights, now against barrera its generally split 50/50 on who will win. Khan's given us what we want, a step up in class. Give him a break If Khan was a champion and he took barrera as a title defense instead of a young good mandatory then it would be a different story. What is annoying me Silencers is i know how poorly Boxing is covered in Britain in the main stream media. The general public with view Khan as something he isn't if he beats MAB. MAB's stock will fall and too. Who is to say Barrera cant get stopped by Khan? Khan might not be a HUGE hitter, but he has accuracy and speed that the old guy might not see coming and we all know which punches do more damage, the ones that you dont see coming. Definitely, the Khan hype will be back to full force if he manages to beat Barrera, never mind stopping him. Barrera's stock should be OK though, it'll just prove that he doesn't belong in the ring anymore, I don't think it'll be looked upon too harshly in a few years' time if he does indeed lose. Of course he can, he has the speed, the power, the youth, the size and the trainer to stop Barrera but if Barrera has even 50% of his skills and power left, he will stop Khan.

Calzaghe v RJJ and Hopkins were different because: a) They were disgraces for happening, since they could have and should have happened earlier. b) They were 40+ and going to retire c) They were "Career defining fights" for Calzaghe, which made it even worse d) Calzaghe was favorite in both bouts. e) They were bouts one would expect to have as "Thank you" bouts or "Good Bye" bouts, not bouts to have at the "Peak" of someones career. i can go on and on but.. As for Khan v Barrera. Khan is not a champion yet and has no world titles. Barrera is on the decline, but is still 34. This is not a "Career defining fight" for Khan, it's a normal bout. A Bout which the majority feel Barrera is going to win, probably by KO. It obviously a HOF bout, but Khan has more to lose than Barrera, and will probably lose, but if he wins, he'd have done someone thing Calzaghe has never done. Take a risk. first off, Calzaghe - Hopkins turned out to be a completely different kettle of fish to the other fights mentioned... This fight is not comparable to that unless Barrera not only wins, but absolutely massacres Khan, taking into account the difference in skill and stature between Khan and Calzaghe i would say this IS a career defining fight for Khan thus far, as it's pretty much his make or break opportunity 34 in Super Bantamweight years is ancient, and Barrera is not quite as efficient at fighting economically and at a suitable pace for his age as B-Hop - the greatest "old fighter" ever. Khan has more to lose than Barrera, certainly. But he also has a great reward if he wins... A reward that more than compensates for the risk The Prescott fight turned out to be the most credible fight in Khan's career, and he was destroyed... A rematch should be in much higher demand than this fight, which is damn near a farce in my opinion i'd say Khan's chances of winning are 70-30

What i dont like about this fight is.....what does Barrera have to gain? Barrera is one of my heroes and i dont want to say him getting whipped or out boxed by a guy, because he is too big and young.

The other guys had already accomplished quite a lot before beating those fighters, Khan needs to accomplish much more to get into the HOF, he can't live off of 1 win over a faded Barrera.

I didnt say JMM was ever P4P number one. And i didn't say it was a hugely dangerous fight. Inactivity only affects stamina, fitness, speed (things that i had mentioned in my post). Inactivity would not affect barreras ring savvy, experience over a younger fighter. Like i said, this is a HUGE step up in CLASS. Not danger No ring activity effects timing,reactions etc. Id rather Khan fought Murray than Barrera at this stage.

It will prove that his defense has gotten better because if a slightly past it HoF Barrera can't knock him down/out, when a shot Gomez, 'bums' like willie limond etc have knocked him down before, then yeah... that shows improvement doesnt it? Khan beating Barrera will prove nothing it's equivalent, no, WORSE than Calzaghe's win over Jones or Hatton's win over Castillo I dont think its as bad as Joe's win over Jones. Barrera did not look shot against Pacquiao 2,JMM,Ventura,Juarez 1,2 he just looked past his best, allthough he has been inactive granted. Jones career was over in 2004.

Beating Barrera won't make him HOF. He still has to go win world titles and prove he can hang with the big guns.
