Ali is the biggest icon in the sport but he wasn't the best boxer ever! Shit, i think Lennox Lewis would beat him IMO. SRL for me.

Lots of great HWs were great personalities, but putting it that way makes it sound like his resume as a fighter alone isnt what makes him great.

SRL gets underrated in this sport, he is one of the greatest ever in this sport. He beat alot of tough and talented fighters. He didn't have the longevity that Ali and Robinson did.

personally i would say no and have had a few other names that spring to mind before Ali IE: Hearns, Robinson etc. No, But he's defintaly up there,but yes he is greater than Hearns.

And yes, Ali is IMO the greatest HW fighter ever in the sport. A couple of guys are right at his heels, though.

I prefer to rank GOAT in two sections: HW/CWs and everyone else. Rating HWs on the P4P system is just too hard for me. And I like keeping the heavies in a league of their own.

Ali is the greatest ever in the sport hands down. Maybe not solely based on his acheivements inside the ring, but combined with the exposure and limelight he gave the fight-game thanks to his colorful persona for sure he's the greatest ever.
