According to Ricky De Cubas, Arena Box Promotions has landed an April 3rd date on ShoBox to continue to showcase Cuban Olympic champion, Yuriorkis Gamboa. Since turning pro, Gamboa is 13-0 and campaigns as a featherweight. The co-feature will be filled by Breidis Prescott, the Colombian who shocked British prospect Amir Khan via first-round stoppage in September. The promoters are still looking for opponents for both Gamboa and Prescott, but the card will be staged at the site of three Gamboa's last four fights, Buffalo Bill's in Primm, Nevada. Another Cuban prospect, Erislandy Lara, will also be on the card. Source = **********
At last hes back and we can see what hes all about. Boxing is stepping up its game this year there's no doubt.
I want to see if Prescott can live up to his potential. Is he just a Columbian powerhouse, or something special? I'm inclined to think powerhouse. He had a spectacular win over Khan, but anybody with decent power would have KO'd Khan that night. He was wide open. I really like Khan, but even I admit he is a flawed fighter. If he can carry on improving his defence and start slipping punches he has a chance at beating Barrera, and getting to the top. If he does beat Barrera, I would have more faith in Prescott as a future champion.
I think Gamboa is similar to Khan. He is a KO waiting to happen. I doubt he will make it to the top if he can't improve his defence. I think he could come unstuck in Khan fashion against a real big puncher. Someone who he has bags more ability than, but does not have the defensive fundamentals in place to avoid big punches for 12 rounds. There is no doubt about his entertainment value though. I have enjoyed all the fights I have watched of his. His reflexes are amazing. If he didn't have a poor chin, and poor defence, he could get to the very top, and dominate for a long time.

Excellent Gamboa is always entertainment and ive been DIEING to see Prescott again
Gamboa needs to learn some defense or he is going to seriously get KTFO against an elite. Getting dropped so often is not a good sign. If he can protect himself, he'll be near the top of the p4p list by 2010. Otherwise, this guy is going to be the Zab Judah of tomorrow, someone with all the talent in the world but lacking the ability to put all the pieces of the puzzle together.
Someone call Mayweather Sr! ASAP!
Prescott looks average. any lightweight with a decent jab and a bit of speed can outbox him to an easy decision.
And a crash helmet.

Gamboa is not on the same card.
Erislandy Lara, Breidis Prescott and Richard Gutierrez are on the same card. Gamboa will fight later, don't know when but I'm sure he will fight at least a month later.

oh boy who will they dig up out of the crowd for Gamboa to fight this time, still its entertaining to see him get KD in every one of his fights no matter how crappy the opponent :lol1:

A decent jab and a bit of speed... like Amir Khan?:boxing:
Prescott seems to be a pretty gifted guy. Not sure how skillful he is, but the dude can crack. Its gonna be fun seeing where he goes.
Gamboa is a guy that I dont put too much stock into having an amazing career, but I am always down to watch him fight. Have to admit though it would be nice to see him get his shit together and perform to the best of his ability.
Hopefully they get tough opponents.
Primm is a horrible ****ing place to have a fight.
I went to Gamboa's last fight and it was hell driving out there.. ESPECIALLY on a Friday or Saturday night when lots of Vegas locals are leaving for Cali and Cali people are coming in to Vegas. I watched the entire Gamboa fight but missed everything else.
The House was pretty well packed but it could have been entirely packed would it have been in Las Vegas instead of Primm.

Ah.....so now Prescott is 'average'?
I thought he was the next Messiah when he beat Khan?
Damn, he does look just like Miranda in the ring. Prescott's opponents need to be chosen very carefully. He has all the makings of Miranda. Someone with all the tools to dominate, but gets mismanaged and knocked the $#%# out!
You think hes a one hit wonder but Prescott beat Richard Abril, another good prospect even before facing Khan.
From the clips I've seen of Prescott, he looks like a shittier smaller version of Edison Miranda.
