I see a lot of people already writing it off as him beating "a shot old man" etc. But, we have all been complaining about him fighting no name fighters, and now he fights a big name, we have people bitching again.
Ok, obviously Marco isn't at his peak, and is fighting at a higher weight than he did in his best days. Which has his at a bit of a disadvantage. But, the experience gap between MAB and Khan is huge. Marco recently fought Manny Pac, while Khan was fighting the likes of Graham Earl, and Michael Gomez. Add to that the fact that Khan is still a bit green, I say a win over MAB is a very solid win at this stage of Amirs career.
What say you?
Beating Barrera would be a substantial victory for Khan, to say the least.
Barrera, although not prime or anywhere near it, is still a very credible, crafty, skillful fighter who was somewhat competitive against Pacquiao and Marquez, especially Marquez.
Amir Khan has a first round KO fresh on his mind and hasn't faced anyone even close to the caliber of a Marco Antonio Barrera.
A win for Amir would be very impressive at this point.
i consider barrera a full step up from khan.even with physical advantages
khan is up against someone that can move and punch better than anyone he's been up against.barrera will outfox and school khan.
and i've read khan is favored!
a bet for khan fans:http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237468
Yea, this is a big step up, no doubt.
Khan is only a slight favourite though, so i'm not too suprised tbh. I expected him to be favoured by a slight margin due to his physical advantages and being so much younger.
I would give him cred. big time. This is a step up we have been waiting to see from khan. I think Roach has the know how to beat MAB. While I don't think MAB is shot, he certainly is not prime either. I think this will be a tough test for Khan but not one that jumps him into P4P top twenty with a victory.
Yea, that's how I see it.
To those saying MAB is past his best, Khan is still Green too..

Sorry, it's these idiotic Pinoy's i've been argueing with for two days it's made me a little edgy. :soapbox:
One of them just said that Ricky hatton has only been on one PPV, :dunce:
It's cool man. I know how retarded things around here can get.
That is one of the better ones though
In answer to your question, it depend on the quality of barerra that turned up, if he was a shot to hell ala ODLH/RJJ not much if he was a hard fighting but ultimately beaten old guy like say Glen Johnson vs Dawson, alot.
Yea, I think that's an issue. If Khan dominates, he just beat a shot old man. If Barrera makes it tough, he will have stuggled with a shot old man. People get what they want (a big name fight) but still moan :lol1: You gotta love boxing fans sometimes eh?
Actually, it's titled
"would you view khan as a better boxer if he beat barerra?", so don't over-exaggerate.
I suppose I should have checked, but oh well. A repeat thread in NSB? Anything new about that!?Sorry, it's these idiotic Pinoy's i've been argueing with for two days it's made me a little edgy. :soapbox:
