Pacquiao: It's still 60-40, or I'll find somebody else

Contrary to earlier reports, Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao said on Thursday he is still insisting on a 60-40 split for his proposed “superfight” with British champion Ricky Hatton.
In a text message he sent to ABS-CBN correspondent Dyan Castillejo, Pacquiao maintained that he has not changed his mind regarding the percentage split with Hatton.
“Basta hindi nagbago ang 50-50 sharing the fight will not happen,” said Pacquiao in his text message.
The Filipino boxing champ said he even gave Hatton’s camp until February to decide on the cut, or else, he will find another opponent.
“I will give them until February. ‘Pag bindi pa nagbago, hanap na lang ng ibang kalaban,” Pacquiao said.
The boxer’s statement is contrary to a report posted on Telegraph.co.uk, which said the Pacquiao’s camp has agreed for a 50-50 split.
The report said that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was able to convince Pacquiao’s handlers about Hatton’s view of the revenue cut.
Arum reportedly said that the tension has already “calmed down”, with the fight expected to be announced officially in the next week.
Pacquiao’s lawyer Jeng Gacal said he has talked with Arum early Thursday morning about the negotiations.
“’Yon nga binigyan kami ng deadline to act on the matter. Otherwise they will pull the plug. I have talked to Manny a few while ago… he's firm on 60-40,” said Gacal.
Observers predict the Pacquiao-Hatton fight to generate at least $60 million.
I'm tired of this shit and don't really care for this fight anymore.
F*ck it!
I'd rather see Pac with Marquez,Judah,Cotto,Mayweather or even ..Margarito.
No matter how you look at it Pac should not get 60/40 he is a moron when Ricky is the one bringing in the most money Pac should be happy he was offer 50%
Not taking anything away from Ricky or his loyal fanbase at all. I actually think that its phenomenal that his fans would take the long and expensive trip across the pond to support their fighter.
I actually think it should be 50-50, both guys are going to make a ridiculous amount of money, plus these were the terms that were verbally agreed to prior to this whole mess.
I just think there are too many ignorant people in Manny's circle, and Manny just seems like a guy that is too easily swayed by things like that.
This fight just needs to be made ! If not, it will be black eye to the sport.
Reason being of him to be the P4P king is not because of mayweather retiring.. He did more than that!! he killed de la hoya to submission even mayweather cant do and PBF and DLH are close to be in the same class, Pac had to jump 2 classes to fight DLH. Another reason him being the king he is the most demand fighter right now, everyone wants him, Why? hes the most exciting fighter and people love that! Im sure Pac doesnt care if he doesnt fight Hatton, any of his fight will be a draw... feel me...
Listen, I like Pac... but I am looking at this from a neutral view, both sides have arguments about why is should be there favored percentage... and it evens out to be fair so it should be 50/50.
I am not taking anything from Pac, but the De La Hoya that fought Pacquiao wasn't the De La Hoya that fought Mayweather, Hopkins, etc. It was a great victory, but all I am saying is that you cannot pin it all on that fight.
Manny became P4P #1 when Floyd retired but I am not trying to compare... Floyd is my favorite fighter but he is retired now and that's that, and yeah Pac did secure himself as P4P #1 when beating De La Hoya and fair play to him, hes a good guy and he deserves it.
But I am just saying... both sides have good arguments... that even it out to be 50/50, Pac is exciting to the public... so is Hatton. Hatton is fighting the legitimate P4P#1 at the moment... but they are fighting at Hattons undefeated weight for his world title. This justifies why it should be 50/50 and not 60/40... split it down the middle, that's what I think. If it was that Hatton was fighting Pac at his best weight while Pac was P4P #1 for Pacs world title, then no doubt it should be 60/40+... but this isn't the case.
Actually, whether or not you feel that De La Hoya was 'washed up' or not has nothing to do with why a fight with him is an almost automatic shot up to superstardom.
Look at Floyd. He was a virtual nobody to casual fans, up until he fought Oscar.
This was arguable even before Pacquiao's destruction of De La Hoya, and questionable after.
Although I don't agree with the holdup for this fight, I don't think that a 60/40 split is totally unfair for Pacquiao.
Not only does he bring in the Filipino fans, but he brings in many non-Filipino fans in as well, many from the US. His massive popularity here in the States is based on his style and entertainment value.
Ricky's huge support base for the most part is limited to his countrymen.
I am not taking anything from Pacquiao... I think he fought fantastically but I just think people are getting too worked up about it because you must admit he wasn't great that night, nevertheless Pac fought fantastically... and if you read the rest of what I said those are the points of were I think it should be 50/50 which is the fairest option. Manny brings Philly's, Ricky brings Brits and they both generate a lot of money, and don't give the the bullshit that Manny only bring in US fans because Ricky does too... that is why it is the most talked about fight at the moment, 50/50 is fair... and for various reasons.
You are giving Manny good points but you haven't gave Hatton any good points... both promote the fight well, both bring in a lot of cash... they are fighting for Hattons belt at his undefeated weight... and Manny is P4P#1... all equals to each other so 50/50 is fair.
If it was Ricky fighting for Pacs belt, at his best weight when Pac was P4P#1 (hypothetically)... then 60/40 would be fair, but that is not the case... both have good arguments which evens it out to make 50/50 fair.
Why does he deserve more? I am taking nothing away from Pacman but beating a washed up De La Hoya doesn't suddenly make him king. He is only P4P #1 cause Mayweather retired. 60/40? No way... there fighting at a weight class that Hatton is unbeaten in... for Hattons belt, and Hatton is fighting the Pound for Pound king. Both are MASSIVE draws at the moment... Hatton will bring in loads of UK buys, and Pacman will bring in loads of Phillipeno buys... they will both generate loads of money and help promote the fight just as much as others so no doubt in my mind it should be 50/50.
I like Pacquiao, I think he is a great fighter... I think he could beat Hatton, but you saying 60/40 is fair just shows how biased you actually are. Learn a little bit about other fighters apart from Pacman and you will learn that he is not the only big draw that can generate money.

that's right manny stick to your guns...he needs this fight more than u do...I'd rather see u fight mayweather than hatton anyways...mabuhay!!!!

You really have to take all of these 'articles' with a grain of salt.
But if this one is true, Team Pacquiao is being idiotic, and this is really what is killing the sport.
This is a fight that needs to happen.
Thats the way i see it too. He is the MAN and he has Did everything he had to do to become the MAN. And he deserves better then 50/50 with a non top ten p4p.
Though I still want the fight to get through if this is the fight most fans wanted regardless and hopefully Pac should do the same. ;)
Warpac :boxing:
What happens if Mayweather dont come back? then what?
Then he fights someone else f--- hatton he doesn't have to fight him..mayweather might not come back who knows...mannys is #1p4p so fighters have to come to him..and I dont want to hear about the oscar fight hatton is not oscar..oscar is the "goldenboy" and yall saw wat happen to him so manny deserves watever he wants..imo I think 50-50 is fair but I'm not manny so I can't call it..
