This guy has lost twice... a big KO to Abraham, and a close decision loss on ESPN to a hard punching Colombian (ESPN scored it for Demers).
Does anyone see this guy going anywhere? He looked to have some pretty okay boxing skills, but seems fairly timid in the ring.
Thoughts?
He's a decent B-level middleweight fringe contender who is able to defeat journeymen but will always lose to the best in his division.
After the KO loss to Abraham, he's a bit timid as you say. But I thought he deserved a close decision win over Miranda in that ESPN fight.
I have to tell you, if anything would make me timid, it would be having my head blown off the way Demers did against Abraham... that KO was SICK.
He seems like a good slick boxer, with little firepower, and a desire to not ever get engaged in real exchanges, because he knows he will take the worst of it. That means he will outslick the journeymen like you say, but someone who can force him to fight or pin him on the ropes is going to have a good night against him.
Frustrating opponent to fight though.
It's kind of strange that Canada judged against him in that fight, but then again, they scored every round for Urango against Ngoudjo...
It's a invitation for internationnal boxer.
Hey guys come and beat some canadians, lol!
You think he is good enough to eventually beat someone like Felix Sturm and pick up an ABC belt?
The sky is the limit!
But Demers beating someone like Sturm or Pavlik or AA and strape a meaningfull belt?
Asking the question is answering it.
Demers may become a good gatekeeper and stay in the top ten of is division, but I don't see him win any major fight or getting a belt.
2nd attempt at getting people to respond.
Demers is good, I actually feel he beat Miranda. He has decent boxing skills if I remember right but his survival instincts are odd. Instead of spinning off the ropes against Abraham he just covers up. That's not a good sign.
He looked horrible vs. Miranda, didn't want to fight. It was in Canada, and he still lost the decision, which is pretty mind boggling. He sucks.

Demers might rebond, but it's true he look shy against the colombian (I don't remember the name), but Demers show great heart in the ring vs Thiam who was on the end, but still had ko bigger opponent then that colombian.
To answer clearly your question, right now, Demers is going nowhere.

It was Dionisio Miranda who was the Colombian that beat Demers.
