Does anyone out here ( non-filipinos ) know who Luisito Espinosa is?
He was a former 2-time Champ, WBA bantamweight and WBC Featherweight
beaten guys like Manuel Medina (twice), Khaokor Galaxy, Kennedy McKinney, Cesar Soto, Carlos Alberto Ramon Rios, Alejandro Gonzalez, Raul Perez, Juan Carlos Ramirez
care bout Espinosa? He was suppose to fight the great NASEEM HAMED but NAZ ducked him.:hitit:
But it is true.
We'll agree to disagree on this one because I don't think he would have been good enough all around to beat Hamed, not to say he wasn't a good fighter, he was.
yeah lets leave at that.
Espinosa KO/TKO 10 Hamed if they fought :)
- Im out -
That's the official excuse of duckers. Ask Floyd and Manny. :D
But it is true.
Maybe not as good but good enough IMO.
Sulaiman after Espinosa-Sotto I : "Espinosa show the world a great boxing lesson"
Louie showed Great counterpunching lesson before more than two hundred thousand fans

I doubt Espinosa hit as hard as Hamed if again, Emanuel Steward is to be believed when he said Hamed hit harder than Lewis on the pads, Espinosa was definitely a big puncher though.
I just think Hamed would have been too fast and awkward for Espinosa, Espinosa was a good counterpuncher but it took a great fighter in Barrera to actually counterpunch Hamed and be successful, I don't think Espinosa was as good as Barrera at counterpunching.
Maybe not as good but good enough IMO. plus he have 1 punch KO power in both hands.

Yeah i agree. Espinosa was on the downward path anyways. best chance for him was before the Sotto fight.
Just bad timing for Espinosa. Before the Sotto fight he plan on suing HBO that practically sealed his doom. He would ve still lose that fight even if he knocks sotto down in every round.
Bad timing and bad officiating, I'm pretty sure Hamed would have fought him had he gotten the nod against Soto.
He had bigger fights elsewhere after the Soto fight as well.

Maybe...but maybe not.
Espinosa and Hamed are the two featherweight champions at that time. Espinosa is a very descipline fighter and can HIT as HARD as naz (believe that!). he's a better counter puncher and will not be rattled by naz's ring antics.
'Lindol' means Earthquake that gives you an idea on how hard his straight right hand is. (and the left hook). He kayoed Carlos Rios a fighter that went the distance with Mayweather.
Yeah he's high risk low reward for naz that's why he duck him :). I even emailed Hamed during those days because he's ducking him silly.

Be that as it may, the fight was advertised as being an eliminator to fight Hamed and officially Espinosa lost and Soto got his shot.
And it's pretty understandable why he turned the Espinosa fight down, he had bigger fights elsewhere, as you said, it was a higher risk fight for lower reward, Hamed would have beaten Espinosa though IMO.

He didnt lose that fight.
round after round he would land straights and uppercuts that snapped sotto's head back. In the end Sotto got a UD. I hope somebody can upload it to youtube.
Sotto was declared the winner. that's why naz fought him. Espinosa's camp was already negotiating with hamed months earlier. High risk low reward for naz at the time.

The fight was offered to Hamed but he turned it down. In a television interview he was asked if he would take the fight but he begged for another question.
No he didnt ducked him :D
He knocked McKinney senseless, got McKinney thinking so much about the left hook that he forgot about the right hand, good fighter back in the 90s.
And Hamed didn't really duck him, the winner of his fight with Soto was supposed to fight Hamed, a fight that Espinosa lost.
