“We want to put him in tough but definitely a notch below the current title holders,” said Eric Gomez. “We’re looking for a top-10 rated contender or a veteran with a name who is still competitive. Maybe Vivian Harris. We would like to put him in with Juan Lazcano, who gave Ricky Hatton a tough fight last year. Lovemore Ndou is another veteran we think would give Victor a good test and some rounds.

Puas: Harris is the only one that makes sense. He's the only one of the three who's a former World Champion and the other two are coming off two back to back losses. Vivian's chin is very suspect and GBP is looking to capitalize on that. A win over the chiny Harris puts Ortiz in contention with the top guys at 140.
Yeah, **** Zahir Raheem... what his average ass did to our Morales breaks my heart.
I'd say Zab is better at 140. He's not very good, but... my god, Casamayor got shut out against Santa Cruz, and was losing to an awful fighter in Katsidis, so...
Plus, Casamayor would be moving up, which would likely slow him down and take away even more of his power.
Casamayor at 140 would not be that big of a threat IMO.
Plus, it seems like the transition from LW to LWW is one of the hardest in boxing for some strange reason. Not a lot of fighters stay the same when they make that 5 pound jump.how bout breidis prescott at 140, hopefully that can happen
Mayweather
De La Hoya
There's been a lot.
I'm just saying, that jump, more than any other jump (except maybe LHW to CW) has stalled a lot of fighters' progress and greatness IMO.
Freddie Roach trained Marlon. he Ko'd undefeated and gold medal olympian Mark Breland for his wba ww championship...and beat him again in the rematch.
Marlon Starling.......

who do you think is more shot up to hell, zab or casamayor cause even at 140, i still think of casamayor as a big threat, while i doubt zabby can ever do anything anymore, at any weight,
i think even raheem is a bigger threat than judah but judah looks better on a resume(we know what journeyman to to our boy , a shot up morales)

That was another name Warp and I came up with (well, he did, not me).
I had no idea that Casamayor was planning on moving up to 140. He is a former champ though... I don't think the former champ part specified former 140 champ.

Remember he was talking about coming up to 140 to fight Hatton before he lost to Marquez.
I was thinking it was going to be Casamayor since the rumor says it's a former champ and he has the same promoter.

i aint saying he's not ready, he just needs to fight a gatekeeper and then grab a championship and then defend it atleast once, preferably more than twice.
carlos maussa is a former champ who became like a gatekeeper, he got blasted easily by victor. vivian lost to carlos and we all know thats most likely his next fight. zabdiel , who me and puas keep implying should be after vivian would be a perfect set up match for a belt. zab at 140 is a strong fighter, , maybe?? i would think so
nobody really understands your opinion cause i keep saying my road to rickey and you mustve read it, it consisted of very very good challengers/gatekeepers/former champs and you then say things like:
i aint saying he's not ready, he just needs to fight a gatekeeper
after you say what you said, were back to saying he needs to fight a gatekeeper,
based on what, what fights make him look like a developing ighter, hes pretty much ready from all the fights ive seen, or you think in 3 years from now, he deserves a shot at ricky

No one said he IS on Hatton's radar (right now). You seem to be easily confused. Victor's probably gonna fight Vivian next. A couple of us suggested that a fight with Zab would be a good follow up then a fight with Bradley. Ricky will surely still be fighting then. A fight with Victor at that point would not be so far fetched especially after Pac Knocks him TFO. They are both with Golden Boy. Ricky ain't going no where. He just started with Oscar. He'll be around for a couple more years.
as long as you understand that ortiz ain't going to fight hatton soon.
You cant tell if the guys hasnt been in there with anyone decent. I feel what you mean about he is ready to try, but you dont go straight to the Ricky Hattons, you have to pull at least one or two elite level wins to start talking like that.
Its like Bradley, Bradley went to Junior Witter's home turf and took his belt. Now he can start looking at all the elites. Thats what Ortiz has to do.
And that's exactly what we're talking about. We're mentioning Harris, Judah and Bradley before a Hatton matchup. That would put a fight with Hatton at sometime late next year. Hatton ain't even all that, shit. You'll see when Manny knocks that fool out quicker than Gayweather did.
If True. Good opponet for Ortiz. Harris is a well seasoned vetran who fought some of the best of his weight , he's a former world champ. Yes he is probaly past his prime, but in his last 5 fights he's won 4 and that lost was a world title fight so should be a good step up for Victor, and i expect a tko victory from him to add two former world champions on his resume.
harris got stopped by witter then got floored hard by a journeyman twice in his last fight. ortiz is taking the calzaghe route and fighting a name after he fell from the top. kinda like calzaghe fighting brewer right after echols ko'd him instead of fighting echols. even then calzaghe struggled mightily. maybe this was after he lost his murderous "punching power" or maybe he was "injured" so brewer was "lucky" to survive. He's a prospect, prospects are SUPPOSED to fight increasingly better Journeymen untill they becomce contenders.
I'm pretty sure Bhop hasn't "fallen from the top" just yet either.
Apparently the rumor is that Ortiz is fighting a former world champ... I was talking to Warp and here are some of the names we came up with:
Harris (probably the frontrunner at this point)
N'dou (although he is probably a WW at this point, and not coming down)
Rees (Just... not very good)
M'Baye (2 losses in a row, not a bad fighter to step up against)
Torres (too dangerous probably)
Judah (probably too big of a draw for Harris to get)
Malignaggi (since he is at the end of his career, not likely, possibly too dangerous too)
I would guess Harris, Rees or M'Baye out of all of those names.

the point is that ortiz is just a prospect and not on hatton's radar

I can see a road to Bradley happening this way (through Zab). And if he can beat Bradley in impressive fashion then I'm sure Golden Boy would move him along the way Oscar was moved along provided Victor impresses. Oscar took the big fights early and never stopped. That's why he's where he's at today; he holds one of the most impressive resume's in recent history. He may not have won them all, but he fought them all and was competitive less the anomaly that is Manny Pacquiao.
victor ortiz has good skills and very good offense, if ortiz cant fight zab, he should go for a highly overated maligaggi , like hatton did
