Well, I was pretty bored and thought I would search 'boxing hall of fame' into Google to find the top 10+ all time greats list... I found this list on a website claiming it was the ESPN top 50 list;
50. Mike Tyson
49. Erik Morales
48. Floyd Mayweather Jr.(undefeated)
47. Bernard Hopkins
46. Roy Jones Jr.
45. Carlos Monzon
44. Pernell Whitaker
43. Marco Antonio Barrera
42. Alexis Arguello
41. Ted "Kid" Lewis
40. Evander Holyfield
39. Oscar De La Hoya
38. Larry Holmes
37. Thomas Hearns
36. Eder Jofre
35. Marvin Hagler
34. Emile Griffith
33. Ruben Olivares
32. Jose Napoles
31. Billy Conn
30. Terry McGovern
29. Sandy Saddler
28. Jake LaMotta
27. Ezzard Charles
26. Joe Frazier
25. Marcel Cerdan
24. Julio Cesar Chavez
23. Jimmy McLarnin
22. Barney Ross
21. Tony Canzoneri
20. George Foreman
19. Stanley Ketchel
18. Archie Moore
17. Mickey Walker
16. Gene Tunney
15. Jimmy Wilde
14. Rocky Marciano (only undefeated heavyweight)
13. Harry Greb
12. Sugar Ray Leonard
11. Joe Gans
10. Sam Langford
9. Jack Dempsey
8. Jack Johnson
7. Benny Leonard
6. Roberto Duran
5. Willie Pep
4. Joe Louis
3. Henry Armstrong
2. Muhammad Ali
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
I was just wandering if everyone agrees with the list, and if anybody thinks some people should be higher or lower in the list, or not in it at all? Discuss.
By the way as a Mayweather fan, I didn't put "(undefeated)" in there, and neither the "(only undefeated heavyweight)" on Marciano... I just pasted it in so there is nothing biased on my part. :)
Anyway I would like your opinions, so... discuss!! :D
You son dont have a godamn clue what you are talking about.
Norris beat Curry,Leonard,Taylor,Mugabi,Brown,Blocker,Castro.
The only thing "shocking" about Norris was his chin, other than that he was very good.
Some Alphabet title holders are better than Linear champs. Linear champ supposes that all great fighters lose to a great fighter in the end and thats just not the way it works.
Rahman was a linear champ, because he got 1 flukey punch in on a great fighter.
If you look at the Middleweights there are some shocking Linear titleholders.
Hagler - Leonard - Norris - Brown - Norris - Santana - Norris - Mullins - Castillejo - De La Hoya - Mosley - Wright.
I think we can both agree that beating Hopkins or RJJ would have been worth twice beating some of those names at MW.

Brown - Norris - Santana - Norris - Mullins were not MW you fool!!
Lennox Lewis should be up there and Calzaghe makes bottom 50. I'm not a huge Jofre and Ross fan so IMO i'd take them out. Hagler would be moved up and a few other moved around. Mcgovern shouldn't be in there either IMO.
New entries if I take out Jofre, Mcgovern, Ross, Conn I would put Calzaghe at the very bottom, Lewis above Holyfield, Mosley above DLH, Tito/Pacquiao would go in there somewhere.
Why would you take out Jofre and Ross?

Lol! putting it that bluntly and briefly, what do you think is awful about it..? Probably starting with the point that De La Hoya is ****ing 39th... sorry but it is shocking.
That's for starters. I have no respect for any list that puts Oscar De La Hoya higher than Barrera, Whitaker & Jones. Just ridiculous, especially the latter two.
But...what do you expect? It's ESPN!!!! It's like asking a mainstream, casual fan to draw up a list.
Because you dont understand how prestigious holding Linear titles is... It seperates the alphabet champs such as guys like Cintron to the true welterweight champs like Mayweather (before he retired). It is really what the Ring base their rankings on.Some Alphabet title holders are better than Linear champs. I'm not knocking Pacman but i'm not sure how you justify his being linear is better than Floyds 5 weights.
I'm not sure how you justify his 4 linear either.
Morales is great and it's an awesomw win but he's a Superbantum not a Super feather where pacman fought him, JMM is a great if close win but he's a feather not a superfeather.
I agree he should be on the list but Hatton will be the only second great win he will have at the oppositions best weight. and to be honest if you're being picky you could say barerra wasn't at his best weight either.
I don't know why i'm bothering and i'm sure people will say i'm being a hater but I just find the whole linear champ thing total BS especially when you will have Pacman a natural SFW as the linear LWW champ even though he will probably never fight at the weight again.

Calzaghe and Hatton are not top 50 all time
Lennox Lewis should be top 50 IMHO and SRLeonard is very low all things considered, i have him higher then Duran.
De La Hoya is not top 50 ATG based on wins either, so unless you have him in on money making....
I am directly in line with this.
That list is awful

DLH is on there bu not in front onf Holyfield and Roy Jones? no i dont think so
Ide put Louis infront of Armstrong.
you cant be serious ....
dlh above hopkins, floyd, roy god damn jones...... pac not on the list
this list must be old.
roy jones >>> dlh any day
bernard knocked dlh out why is dlh ahead of him this guy gets credit for having a prettty face.
believe it or not floyd did not duck any and everybody the man's won 6 titles in 5 weight classes but you have to remember he won 3 LINEAR TITLES not
no bull crap titles but linear.
I'm not knocking Pacman but i'm not sure how you justify his being linear is better than Floyds 5 weights.

Remove Barney ross!! for hatton? the guy who was taken to school and was given a boxing clinic by floyd deserves to be a top 50 all time great LMAO.
Hatton is p4p best boozer and top 10 p4p crowd draw. That's about it. He may be somewhere in the top 10 all time for his division.
Believe me mate, I am realistic and not biased... but you say Pac would be the 1st person to win 4 linear championships... but you could say that Mayweather was the first person to win 6 world titles in 5 weight classes while remaining undefeated... it kind of goes both ways. But yeah, a fight between then would properly decide who goes in front of each other. Either way, Floyd should be higher... Oscar should be lower... and Pacquiao should definitely be on the list.
I still don't know how in hell Oscar can be above both Hopkins and Jones, Jr!!
Being the first guy to win 4 Lineal Championships is more prestigious than winning 6 titles at 5 different weight classes. The only guy that came close was Armstrong...
But Barney Ross still shouldn't be there, all he did was lose to Henry Armstrong.
Ross held titles in three weight classes (lightweight, jr. welterweight & welterweight) and beat Tony Canzoneri, Jimmy McLarnin, Ceferino Garcia, Battling Battalino and Sammy Fueller, all world champions.
