I think alot of the hardcore fans wanted to see Joan Guzman vs. Pacquiao. Remember how they were talking about this fight a few years back? But, Pacquiao has tasted the mega fight and this will never happen. It would've been a war for the ages. Too ****in bad.
Marquez vs. Guzman would be a better match-up. Pacquiao gets this one easy, reasons stated above.
I don't buy it. Guzman vs Marquez would be a near shut out for Marquez because Marquez would just box circles around Guzman with neither puncher doing much damage and causing a real dull fight. Pacquiao Guzman would be alot more entertaining. Pac will force Guzman into exchanges and Guzman would have to get into. Guzman has a lot of power in both fists and that coupled with Pac's speed and power make for a bad ass match up.
Same here. i think this is a fight fan's fight. There ain't no politics, no bullshit, and no Golden Boy involved. I would pay ppv money for this one. But, for the time being, we can only hope.

I'm a huge Pacman fan, and a big fan of guzman, which is why I want this fight to happen.

WTF, I don't think you understand the discussion this thread at all. I, and others, have already stated that this fight will most likely never happen, even mentioned some of things you just stated (i.e pacman is a superstar, guzman is not, guzmans recent fukk up, etc.). You're wasting your time (and mine at this point).
I'm a fan of pacquiao. Next to bernard hopkins, he's my favorite fighter. I'm simply saying it would have (past tense) been intriguing and a great match up stylistically. :footinmou
You damn wasted our time on fantasy boxing, why not spend extra time reading the obvious reasons why this fight will NEVER happen, right?
:439:
If you want to talk "style" tell me, has Guzman ever fought anybody remotely close to Pacquiao's caliber? Now Pacquiao has fought better guys than Guzman, four hall-of-fame shoo-ins to be exact, fought three of them multiple times in fact, and only lost once, to a guy that had a style that is not even remotely close to Guzman's, so we cannot say that Guzman can use that blueprint to defeat Pacquiao.
Is Guzman technically better as a counter-puncher than Marquez? Guzman doesn't even have power that is enough to deter a Pacman assault, he has shown us that he wasn't able to bring his power to the higher weight class. Guzman is going to run. Guzman may be faster than Soto and Barrios but he definitely isn't faster than Pacquiao. Guzman's gonna get tagged, repeatedly, something Guzman hasn't experienced before, and he's going to need to run more than he ever had to. He's going to try to showboat and potshot, problem is, Pacquiao isn't a stationary target! Guzman isn't going to throw anything that will not get answered. Guzman likes to fight going back, while Pacquiao is at his best when he is fighting going forward. Marquez was effective because he was able to make Pacquiao fight on the defensive, Guzman does not have the style nor the power to do the same thing, and even if he did, Pacquaio has shown us in his last fights that he can now fight going back as well. Lastly, cardio. Pacman fights every second of every round and trains to fight for 24 rounds and trains with discipline to achieve this, while Guzman can't even make weight even under the "watchful eye" of Floyd Sr.
where does it say it's credited by team guzman? If so my bad never saw it, if I did I wouldn't use them as a source.
Haha, it's cool man. Look at the top where it says "Read more by Team Guzman", it's a news release.
Nothing personal bro, I live for two things: Arguing, and being right. I mean three, counting your gifs.
"Guzman was scheduled to challenge Nate Campbell for his WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight titles in Sept, but Guzman was declared unfit to fight by the Mississippi State Athletic Commission doctors who diagnosed him as severely dehydrated the day of the fight." www.saddo bo xing.com/

LMAO!!!!!!!
That's a press release! That's why it is credited to "Team Guzman" at the top, not a writer.
Tommy Morrison has been sending them for years saying he's HIV free, doesn't mean it's true.
Only hardcore pacquiao haters would say such a thing. Listen, that's just the way it is with some boxing fans. If they don't like a fighter, they'll never give him props. This is especially true with extreme nuthuggers. Like Marquez fanatics will always bash pacquiao no matter what, and vice versa.
But I think level headed fans know that Guzman vs Pacman is very intriguing match up. I think it's pretty absurd to say Pacman would pummel Guzman, as Guzman has never received a beating in his career and has a very solid chin, plus his defensive and elusive style would create problems for anyone including Pacman. It's also tough to say because Pacman has never really faced a slick elusive fighter before, or if he did it was a very long time ago. Pacman, for the most part, has fought typical come forward Mexican style opponents.
I'm a huge Pacman fan, and a big fan of guzman, which is why I want this fight to happen.
Let's see, what does Guzman bring to the table that elite super feathers, lightweights and junior welters doesn't...NOTHING. He doesn't sell, his fighting style stinks, he hasn't beaten anybody of note, dude doesn't even have an alphabet. What does Pacquiao gain by fighting this clown? Fights against Hatton and Floyd are sure money-makers, JMM is #2 P4P, Campbell has three straps, Bradley will soon have the same number, Juan Diaz can put-up another "Mexican" stand, Casamayor has beaten names, Katsidis and Valero are exciting fighters while Guzman is a clown who doesn't even have the discipline to make weight. :D
He still fukked up by not making weight, same with castillo (and plenty others). And with Guzman/Campbell, they both agreed to fight after guzman didn't make weight but Guzman messed himself up too badly by dehydrating himself severely, was throwing up blood and was not medically cleared to fight.
He did f--k up by not making weight, but he f--ked up even worse when he didn't fight on. He could have told the promoters and the network before hand that he had problem with weight, had the contracts amended and the fight would have went on.
Instead, he left everyone with their dicks in their hands.
You mention throwing up blood and all of these other dramatics, but where is the evidence? Why was he placed on an administrative suspension, not a medical suspension?
He was suspended for violating the terms of his contractual agreements, not for medical problems.
Not after Pacman pummels him. Pacquiao has this knack for turning "prime" fighters into "shot" fighters overnight. :D
And use the fighter's age to back it up.
But both are in their prime right now.

If Guzman lost to Pacquiao, people would say that old age caught up with the Dominican clown, and Pacman scored another win with a "past his prime fighter". :D
But both are in their prime right now.
Guzman's speed (His speed is overrated; who has he faced with decent speed?), power (who has he knocked out above superbantam? come to think of it, the last guy he KOed has been dead for years now, God bless his soul) and style would've given Pacquiao immense problems. (His style would have given the audience problems staying awake, only fighter I know who's more boring than this clown is John Ruiz.)

True but Guzman will never be a household name so getting a belt is the next best thing.
I think the only other way this fight might happen is if Pac gets upset by someone, and he uses a Guzman fight as a rebound.
Tell Guzman to get a belt at 140....then maybe...............
Pacquiao don't care about belts. He cares about making mad purses. If Guzman was a household name, but had no belt, best believe this fight would be in the works.
I have nothing against Guzman, but why in the hell would I waste my time watching Pac vs Guzman when I can watch Pac fight Hatton or Mayweather or Marqeuz or Cotto or........
I mean, cmon.
It would of been an awesome fight and Guzman is the best candidate to kick Pacquiao's ass.. Unfortunately, Pacquiao's status how now escalated while Guzman's has declined do to him not being able to make weight or fight vs Campbell. I don't believe we will ever see my dream match now :( It's a shame. It would have been an instant classic.
