Joshua Clottey -VS- Kermit Cintron.. Who wins this one? This could be real close. It seems like Clottey is going to take this one though. When Clottey puts up those ear muffs which cover head and body, it's pretty tough to get through. I have doubts Cintron can get past Clottey D. Clottey UD. With a slim puncher's chance if Kermit can land. Poll to follow.
im sorry but ppl picking clottey to KO cintron are delucional.
clottey couldn't ko a diego corrales so please be realistic.
solid post there.....
i pick clotty by D... still.. i think he can do it. but i didnt think about that (corrales fight) ...
but one thing is for sure.. he didnt ko judah earlier because of his turtle shell style....
if josh... find a way to throw more punches and be more active.... he will be a headache for anybody! and would be koing more ppl
Cintron doesn't mind fighting the tough fights. I'm sure he will be rewarded at some point.
nobody cant deny that!!!
at least we can bet that is gonna be explosive!! not becuase of clottey but because of cintron...
even that he likes to cry heheh i just love to see him trade bombs with anyone! :boxing:
Cintron did not turn down a cotto fight. Arum said he was a "possible" opponent and a dangerous one for cotto. Arum is a smart man so he put cotto in with jenkins for the vacant wbo in hopes of having a wba, wbo unification with margarito in the summer. N'dou and cintron was a fight to earn mandatory position for the IBF belt and since cintron won he is now clottey's mandatory they for they need to fight.
Yes he did.
Cintron turned it down before it even reached Arum.

All this talk and all the polls mean nothing. Cintron has only lost two professional fights, both to the baddest welterweight around, Antonio Margarito. Joshua Clottey is not Margarito and he won't be able to take Cintron's power and punishment. He's never faced anyone with the power that Cintron has and when he feels it...it will be lights out. Cintron in the most underrated fighter at 147. Somehow he gets left out of the conversations of the elite in the class yet all he has done is beat everyone he's ever faced except Margarito. I'll take Cintron against ANY of the other welterweights!
Cintron by mid to late KO!
Good post.
Cintron's main weapon is that right-hand bomb.
Clottey is made of steal. He took the best of Margarito's barage from rounds 9-12 nursing that wrist. Cintron's arsenal isn't enough for Clottey.
I can see Cintron keeping Clottey at bay though.
Clottey by Decision

N'Dou fight helps Kerm
Big Kerm fan here from outside Philly. If Kerm was going to go for a belt so quickly, I'd like his chances more against Berto or even Williams than Clottey. But, on second thought, the "tune-up" against N'Dou was the perfect prep for a Clottey showdown. Against NDou, Kerm had to fight to win a decision and not rely on a KO-- and he did handily. Now, don't get me wrong--Clottey is clearly a huge step up from N'Dou, but by the same token, he's no Margarito either. Its going to be a chess match--- CLottey will play possum and try to withstand the early Cintron barrage, and then take him out in the later rounds as Kerm fades or gets discouraged. As long as Kerm doesn't empty his tank early trying to take Clottey out, and has a mindset going in that he'll need go the distance and outbox him (if the KO happens all the better), I think he has a pretty good shot. This should have been the lesson he learned from N'dou. (Having said that, Kerm never really had a chance to take Ndou out with all the clutching and grabbing going on in that fight-- so I don't know whether the strategy was intentional). All this talk about Kerm having no heart is bunk--- Cintron has plenty; lost amidst the constant focus on what happened in Margarito I is his efforts against Reid, Suarez and Estrada (plenty of opportunity to "wilt" in those contests against decent opponents, yet he didn't and showed a solid chin each time) and even Margarito II was a war--Kerm just got outgunned. Clottey will allow Kerm to beat himself--- its up to Kerm to recognize that and respond accordingly. If he does, he wins.

Cintron by mid to late KO!
So he's gonna punch through the ear-muff turtle shell guard? The same one Margarito couldn't fully get through for 12 rounds.. despite a broken clottey hand? I know Cintron hits hard but that would be interesting. Possible..
All this talk in nonsense!

Cintron by mid to late KO!
The fight will be evenly matched until midway through the 7th round a tall, lanky streak of piss under a hood will enter the ring, as he pulls back his hood, Cintron and Clottey look scared with a strong scent filling up the room and a brown substance dripping down Cintrons leg. The man is no other than Paul Williams who shouts out "Ya'll FU***RS won't fight me, i'll make you fight me" Margarito is seen running towards the exit having attended the fight and Williams looks set to fight before being jumped on by Larry merchant and restrained by armed personnel
What are the odds on that happening, is it worth a cheeky punt
I thought Williams was running away from Clottey??
Clottey by late round stoppage or easy UD, after punishing cintron over the course of the fight.
Clottey is either the 2nd or 3rd best welterweight behind paul williams and maybe antonio margarito, yet ahead of cotto and mosley

I know Clottey's not a knockout artist, but when Cintron is beaten he no longer can continue. I expect Clottey to dole out the same amount of pressure and punishment that Margarito did, and for Cintron to fall for good in the later rounds. Still, I give Cintron more of a chance against Clottey than Margarito simply because of his size advantage.
