I spend part of my New Year's day watching boxing matches on youtube and came across the Arslan-Jones fight. For those who haven't seen this fight, it was Sept 27th of last year with Firat Arslan fighting Guillermo Jones for the WBA cruiserweight title and my, was this brutal fight!...
Guillermo Jones was the much bigger fighter and for 10 grueling rounds punished the much smaller and ineffective Firat Arslan. This guy ate more uppercuts than I've ever seen a fighter take! By the time the ref stopped this fight, Arslan was bloody mess and was visibly a broken man...
Question: Has anyone heard any news about this guy? Has he recovered? Will he fight again? Here's the videos of the fight:
It's odd that Jones is seen as a big cruiserweight when used to be a welterweight/light middleweight contender a decade ago.
Not saying that it's wrong because he does look bigger than Arslan although Arslan has been a natural CW for his whole career.
He is just one of those fighters whose tall frame has been able to carry the extra weight very well.
Marco “Captain” Huck (24-1, 19 KOs) will return to the ring in May to defend his European cruiserweight title against former world champion Firat Arslan (29-4, 18 KOs). Team Sauerland won today’s purse bid in Rome with an offer of 514,000 euros. “We are delighted that Marco will defend his title on a Sauerland show,” General Manager Chris Meyer said of the mandatory defense. “The fight will be staged in May. We will announce the date and the venue within the next two weeks.” Captain Huck, who has dusted Geoffrey Batello and Fabio Tuiach since winning the title from Jean Marc Monrose last September, is looking forward to the showdown against Arslan. “We are both under contract with German promoters,” the 24-year-old said. “That makes the fight very special. It will be very interesting for the German boxing fans. I am really looking forward to it.”

I don't think this is a good "first fight back" for Arslan. He took an enormous amount of punishment in his last fight and to come back against a guy whose KO'd his last 5 opponents doesn't seem like such a good idea...
I think Arslan is mandotory for Hucks' European title
That's it.
Dunno about Guillermo, his fight against arslan was brutal, he ****ed him up so bad. His multiple uppercuts and right hands were a beauty.
Boston. I was looking for a link earlier for some news on Arslan, but couldnt find it. I'm pretty sure however that I've read that he'll continue he's career and that he'll be back in the ring sooner rather than later.
lol mate give it time :boxing:
PS3 and Xbox 360's are more common then these two fighters so maybe they don't have any helpful imput to make in this thread. I am sure someone will know more about how Firat is doing, i am curious just like yourself.
I can't believe the idiocy in NSB. I posted a great thread about boxing and nobody responds. Another poster posts a thread about playstation and wii and not about boxing, and gets 3 pages worth of responses....
