Naz added alot to British Boxing.
He knew how to sell tickets and get on his opponenets nerve. Many say British Boxing died the day he (unofficially) retired.
Really class character
Did he not know that he could have walked into any barber in any black neighborhood in any city and got that fade for less than $15? When I start accumulating Hamed money, I hope I don't overpay for simple sh it and believe it to be exclusive!
lol haha very true

Hamed wanted to be pampered. U dont get that in any black barbers. He wanted the illusion he was royalty, and pay somone to treat him like he wasnt just a gobby little prick.
Prince Naseem was a great boxer and showman and made boxing a top sport however as soon as he split with Ingle i think his love for Boxing was reduced compared to his love for the fame and money. He wanted to be a world champion and fight in big main events which he accomplished so he got carried away and got defeated by Barrera. I actually believe a hungry Prince trained by Ingle could have defeated Barerra but it happens in life and Prince in my opinion didn't have the love for boxing he had before he accomplished most his goals.
I think we should seperate the character you see on the TV and the actual people. Prince Naseem's incidents in life have nthing to do with his boxing career and should be kept seperate. He was a cocky or confident guy however you wish to look at it and he did play up to the cameras but i don't he was actually like that as a person when the cameras weren't rolling. I met him twice and he came across as a great guy, different to how he comes across on TV but i have heard the same about Floyd.
The accident that he ran from wasn't because he was being cocky as i believe he got scared and didn't know what to do so panicked and chipped. it was the wrong thing to do but it is a lot easier to talk about the situation then actually being involved in it.

Naz was a bad ass!
And we are talking boxing. what the **** has it go to do with him running someone over, that was after he retired. on his boxing skill he was amazing. and i have said more than once.. he would have knocked Barrera the **** out if he had stayed with Ingle.
I'm not saying that Hamed couldn't draw a crowd I'm just saying that hes not good for boxing in that his self centered personality tarnishes the image of boxing especially when the youner crowd of society are gravitating to the UFC which for the most part markets their fighters as Blue Collar lunch pale kind of guys and not as british aristocrats that run over people and could give a **** what happens to them.
Whats good for boxing is great fighters, entertaining characters, people with charisma who know how to work with the media, fighters who attract crowds and ppl at home based on their skill and entertainment level, fighters with punching power who can turn the tide of a fight in the blink of an eye, fighters who unify their division and want to be known as the best, fighters who take on all comers.... all this and more represented Prince Naseem Hamed
simply put he was and still is GOOD for boxing.
Promoters didn't lose money on Hamed. He was a top draw. Boxers who can bring in money like him deserve the millions. If you like underpaid talent and rich promoters, enjoy the UFC.
ouch
whole post is very very true!
Naz made boxing entertaining with his flashy style and his K.Os. He's just a pure showman. I don't care about who his next opponent, I just wanna see what's he going to do next! If the ATG list is based solely in pure excitement and entertainment. I think NAZ will be at the top.
That haircut was right before the Barerra fight, i t was in a cool little Movie the other day on ESPN Classic all about the weeks building up to the fight, he was way cocky but that made it even sweeter knowing that he is gonna get his ass handed to him in the end.
.
As for Hamed's vehicular mishap, I'm not going to defend it or discuss it because it has nothing to do with how much money he got paid to fight.

The thing is I don't like the fact that UFC fighters are underpaid but at the same time I don't like assholes like Winky and Corey Spinks clammering for millions when they really don't deserve it.
As for hamed lets talk about the arrogence that caused an innocent man to lose his ability to walk because he wanted to drive 150 MPH on a freeway. Naseem was so arrogent and thoughtless that he walked away from a man that begged for his help as he was bleeeding and dying in the middle of the roadway.
Please defend this disgusting shit and tell me how this is GOOD for boxing?
Promoters aren't going to pay fighters money that won't allow them to make a profit. At least not if they want to stay in business. HBO overpays guys like Winky sometimes, but that is their privilege. There are crappy baseball players who are ridiculously overpaid by comparison. None of them get punched for a living.

I think he is an example of whats wrong with boxing and why every boxer nowadays feels hes entitled to millions of dollars.

Each to thier own i guess?
Hamed earned his millions to be fair. Adidas paid him a shit load for his sponsorship and he put bums on seats and people would tune in to watch him fight wither you liked him or not. He put on a show.
He was box office gold, who you could make a fortune off and a lot of people did.
Can't blame 'The Prince' for the greedy boxers of today.
To be like that, you have to back it up and for a long time Hamed did back it up, until Barrera found him.
I miss naz, he was good for the sport.

Agree 100% with that. He was never given his due credit in the US and deserves credit for influencing the showmanship and elaborate ring entrances which have become a regular part of boxing now.
