I really don't understand why people hate the kid so much. He's 23 year old and if he won a title right now the only other fighter that was his age and won a title in his division was Fernando vargas. Now if you compare the two one big diffrence is Vargas had a long amature career where Chavez JR had none. Seriously I would really like to hear some real reasons why the kid is a bad fighter?
Look like I said in my post, Wilfredo Vazquez jr., didnt have any amateur Background, either, he is 23 also and he only have 14 fights and have fought better comp than Chavez JR.
You get experience with fights not with age, because if you are 30 with 25 fights it doesnt make you more experienced than a guy with 40 fights with happends to be 25 just because you are older, thats a nonsense logic.
And at 23 is when most atleats in any sport start to show some greatness if they have any in that particular sport, including boxing. And the only thing he have showed is that he can beat bums and struggle with some Tomato cans!!!!!!
People are not asking him to fight Forrest , or Santos or Williams, but if he is going to be for real he needs to start upgrading his opposition, amateur background or not.
And about the hype, you are right is not his fault he is getting this much attetion or hype. People dont hate him, people hate the situation he is in!!!!!!
Age has a lot to do with things on the mental side of boxing. The older you get the more mature you are and the better control you have over your physical ability. A great example of that is the HW division where you almost always see fighters reaching their primes in their early 30's.
As for Vasquez this is one fuking fighter out of thousands of fighters. Again the Majority of the fighters out there either had a long Amature career before they became successful or didn't get successful till they reached a certin age. Is it really that hard to believe that older men are more physically and mentally ready to challange for titles/world Class compatition?
Even Antonio Margarito had to get his ass whopped by older fighters early in his career before he was able to reach his physical prime in his mid 20's and even then he had to wait till he turned 30 to fight a top fighter.
So a fighter with no real boxing experience should get thrown in with the boxing elite by his 15th fight?
Maybe he is not fighting top level fighters but he isn't fighting the out right tomato can's like he was 2 or 3 years ago. A lot of the fighters he has been fighting lately have been considered Moderate contenders like him or seasoned vets that are considered gate keepers. I think he is still two years away from learning enough to seriously challange for a title.
many Mexicans before have done it..
hes just fighting to make up for not having an amateur career, i say another couple of years before he really steps into ring for major challenges....but they need to match him up with fighters thats going to improve his ranking a little better
i dont hate him, he looks like a very cool guy. On the boxing side, I understand he doesnt have any Amateur experience, but he have already 38 fights, he should have some experience by now!!!! I mean Wilfredo Vazquez JR, didnt have any amateur background either and have only 14 fights and have faced better competition than Chavez JR.
The fact that he is headlining PPV because of his father names is whta piss people more!!!!!!!!!!
The thing is that the overwhelming number of Champions out there had long amature careers, lots of fights against marginal fighters, and didn't challenge for titles tille they were in their mid to late 20's.
Yeah he's had 38 fights but it still doesn't change the fact that he is a very young man who still hasn't reach complete maturity both physically and mentally.
Also we can agree that it's not his fault that the press is throwing all this outlandish hype at him? So how is that a reason for people to hate him???
Chavez jr cant help it, if he is being built up by the media. And lets be honest the media were always gonna push the name to make more money, but none of that is Chavez's fault.
He is a C maybe B- fighter that gets way more attention that he deserves because of his name.
He also has way more pressure on him to succeed because of his name and critics and fans alike are putting pressure on him to succeed even though he's not at that point yet. You don't think Peyton and Eli Manning didn't have more pressure on them because their dad was a Hall of Fame NFL QB?
-He fights nobody.
-He wouldnt be on PPV if he didnt have a famous daddy. So he didnt earn it.
-He is a clear "Will lose as soon as he steps up" fighter.
-His fans talk him up like he is going to be a great like his daddy. He wont.
-He is mouthy like he has accomplished something.
-He already got one BS gift win just so people can keep milking those PPV $'s.
There's a few to start.
-He is fighting the same compatition that every contender his age fights So WTF?
-Again every fighter has a Gimmick and his Gimmick is his name so what.
-How is it clear that he will lose once he moves up in class? I hear and read this all the time but nobody can point to anyone fight or anyone moment in his career that he doesn't look like a solid up and comer.
-Mouthy? Since when? Because he's being mouthy about De La Hoya? Seriously you are retarded if you think he's mouthy becasue he's calling out DLH. Most sons would love nothing more than to whip the shit out of a guy who beat their father.
-Bullshit gift?? He schooled Vanda in the rematch!!!!!! He made Vanda look like a ****ing Idiot and won a wide UD. The Ring Magazine and most other critics had him winning the first fight but not by such a wide margin so really all your complaining about is that one judge might of given him one to many rounds even though most people thought he had won the fight anyways..
Ive always liked him. Im not like the others who begrudge, because he has n't stepped up yet. The kid has had 4 amatuer fights, so if he needs to gain experience in the pro's fighting a few bums, i have no problem with it.
Look at the Peterson Bros who have they fought ? Berto to a lesser extent has fought nobodys too.
I disagree considering most Champions had an actual amature background and really don't get good till they turn at least 27 or 28. Junior has had no amature career and is still just 23.
wow finally someone that knows what he's talking about. good post

Since when? Who has he fought that was a legit threat? What do you mean "highly regarded"? Last time I checked Jr wasn't very highly regarded.
Besides that, even if he has faced a little better comp just recently (and this is my main gripe w/the guy), it still irks me that they make a PPV out of it.
When I said highly regarded I meant the fighters he was fighting were "as good" as him. I didn't say they were champions I just said they were moderate contenders.
His last 4 opponents have a combined record of 113-10 if that helps you understand that the kid is fighting B- compatition right now just like every other contender his age.
And his PPV numbers and attendance in Mexico are good so why wouldn't they keep puttting the fights on PPV?
He's fighting fighters that are just as highly regarded as himself or he is fight gatekeepers who every eventual champion has to beat before he gets a title shot.

that being the case, then why is he headlining ppv's? Because of his daddy's name.
Maybe that's what people don't like.
Personally, I think he's ok.
Just no world beater.
Ok and thats his promoters doing what they do...Promoting!!!!
It has nothing to do with him and thats how they get people out to see him fight. Every fighter has a promotional gimmick that the use to sell their fights so how is this any diffrent?
Actually...
Oscar De La Hoya was 23 when he took the super featherweight title from Chavez in the first fight. and he had already won the featherweight title before that.
And Juan Diaz was the unified lightweight champ at 23, he's now 24 years old and is the lightweight champ.
JCC JR is being overly protected and that might not be a good thing.
At this stage in hs career he has a chance at beating Oscar since Oscar doesn't seem to have anything left in him as a fighter.
Oscar also was a gold Medal winner as an amature and had already been fighting for close to 15 years when he beat chavez SR. And they fought at juniro welter and welterweight not super featherweight.
Juan Diaz also had a lengthy amature career I think but if he didn't then we are talking about one exception. Sure Junior has more fights then most prospects but the lack of any real amature background makes him just as developed as any other contender his age.
I don't hate him. It is, however, kind of annoying that even though he seems to be not-ready-for-primetime in his selection of opponents he uses his daddy's name to get a bunch of PPVs. Wish he'd fight more on ESPN or Showbox or BAD or on the undercard of better PPVs.

Ok, do you know what an amateur career is? And an amateur record?
Do you know what that means?
An amateur fight doesn't even have to be golden gloves or silver gloves or any sanctioned fight.
The requirements for a record are a guy getting in a ring, and them calling it a fight.
If you think Junior didn't fight at all for years, I don't know what to say, honestly.
Ugh he had very limited experience and never really had any Official Amature bouts if that makes you feel better.
The point i'm trying to make is that he never had the pedigree that a lot of other champions have had and he is still just 23 years old. Sanctioned or non sanctioned amature bouts aside the guy really didn't step into the ring till he was 17 and he was already fighting pro's. The only other fighter of note that did that (Antonio Margarito) didn't get his first title shot till he was 26 and he didn't get listed in the PFP rankings till he was 30. And Tony had lost against similar fighters while junior is still undeafeated at this stage of his career.

i dont hate him.. but the thing that bugs me is that there alot of more better fighters out there... i can name better fighters from teleforura (rip)
its all in his name....
And he's 23 years old. Name all the top fighters in boxing right now and how many are his age or younger?
You know what an amateur career is?
JCC probably boxed more rounds not being technically an "amateur" then most guys that were amateurs.
He's had 45 pro fights. He gets no more passes from me.
It's not just the rounds it's the years of practice, sparring and training that you get out of it. When you are an amature yes you fight less rounds but most amature fighter start in their early teens and don't get thrown in with full grown pros till they are in their mid 20's.
What are you gonna tell me Amature fighters don't train for years before actually getting into their first pro fight?
