I feel more comfortable in the Southpaw stance but have considerably less power in my left than my right. Infact if I hit my friend with the right I could probably have knocked him down even with the head gear on but it's difficult to set up shots with the left jab and I'm very vulnerable.
PS: I know I'm not that good. So give me some tips as well. Some praise would be appreciated too (you know, for the sake of my ego :D)
The guy in the helmet was taking it really easy on you if that was your dad or friend of some sort. He barely threw anything looking like he was holding back alot.
Atleast that is what I saw in that video, I know its a sparring video but he should have put up an effort and not went so easy. Because in the ring, your opponent will not take it easy.
the other guy had a wierd style and would make anyone look crap.
the bigger guy can box, movement, he has speed and power too, just sloppy footwork. ive seen worse pros
work on your guard and footowkr
His chin is out to dry. If it was me he was sparring with I'd have him on his arse with the first hook I threw.
Terrible, just like all back yard boxing is.
If you like I could get you a pro fight against this monster:

Now go to a boxing gym and don't come out until you have learned to box.
da da ya panemayu.
indeed i just read his wikipedia again to freshen up i guess he was a respectable warrior after all since even i admit that russia did many heinous things in the chechen wars :blackeye:
Indeed, there was often little honor in the conflict in the Caucusus; from either side.
However, just because you support one side and I another does not mean we cannot respect one another.
p.s. why do you have that murderer gelayev in your signature, it is quite distasteful to us russians for you to put him up. is he your hero?
No disrespect intended Fulcrum. I have nothing against Russians at all, the Specnaz or your leader. Gelayev isn't a hero of mine, though I do respect his warrior mentality and the values he stood for. The Russians nicknamed him the 'Black Angel' and even had respect for him because he didn't flout war rules like Basayev or Arbi Barayev (Beslan, Moscow etc)
Ya panemayo tebya
Tee paneemayesh menya, da?
Honestly, he is 180lbs, 13stone in English/UK conversion. He's also 5'10. He is extremely solid. He's also heavily into martial arts, stick fighting, rock climing and a general fitness fanatic. His upperbody is solid, dense and pretty big.
I'm around 14.5 stone, around 205lb now I've stopped weightlifting. I used to be 16 stone (225ish) when I was into the weights. 186cm tall.
The guy filming is 6'4.
Cool, weren't hating on you, just a few jokey comments on your opponent tis all. He did look like Billy Dib right there, running away from you.
If anything you looked orthodox but it's difficult to tell. In a ring against a more normal sparring partner, film that and folk could then judge better.
don't listen to the haters i thought u showed decent skill in the video but a few things to note:
1. the guy in headgear was rarely punching back at all he was just running away from you. If he was actually trying to wing shots at your face I doubt you would be as comfortable/confident doing all those showy maneuvers and walking him down like that with zero guard/defense.
2. the guy in headgear..no way he's 180lbs as you say because he looked 120lbs compared to you so if he's 180 then you must be 220 or something and neither of you looks even close to that size.
3. guys that keep their hands low (not recommended) still put their hands up SOMETIMES like when the opponent gets close etc...but you seem to keep them low at all times even when you're being attacked which isn't smart. you have decent head/body movement but it's really hard to tell how good your actual evasion/defensive skills are only because your opponent as i said before wasn't really throwing anything at you, he spent more time running away and cowering into the corner of the wall, etc.
I'm around 6'1 ish, slightly taller. The loose fitting jumper is something comfortable to wear as are the jeans (you can tell sparring wasn't planned :D) The guy filming is 6'4 to get a scale on things
The problem with where we were sparring is that the room is full of objects, quite wide but very narrow so it's easy to bump into things.
I have some other sparring videos somewhere and you can then get a proper perspective of our respective sizes and it's in a much nicer environment too (a proper boxing ring).
I know you were the other guy, I just found it difficult to watch you with that guy looking like he was doing the shot put. That head gear would hinder him, it looks like he nicked it off Darth Vader. He can't be 180, really? What weight are you?

I'm not the guy in the headgear. I never wear it.
My friend Patrick got angry that day, too many head shots came at him. That though, is the problem with headgear, it hampers your peripheral vision and you can't see anything coming in from the left or the right.

Two things that came into my mind after watching the hold your hand out front style were;
Go Go Power Rangers.
Luke Skywalker with a lightsaver.
"If you had this head mask on, I'd smack you around"
Absolute Gold.

yea i mean i can tell you can fight you got sum speed
Thanks dude. When I had better conditioning (and definition) I had alot more speed too. I think my power has remained the same though even though I've lost some weight.

yea i got 2 baby mammas and lots of drama..but ya gotta love da kids
yeah man, i can imagine. shit is gettin rocky with my girl..... i can only imagine how shit would be if we broke up and us having to deal with each other for life.
i can see why you get bloody noses and black eyes..keep you guard up and stop rushing in..a good jab will stop alot of things
Actually I never got the bloody nose or the black eyes :D The guy wearing the headgear wears it for a reason. I've had something far worse, a cracked rib.
well first off all, drop that fancy(corny) show-off technique and stick to a standard discipline and you might figure out what works better for you
I used to spar before - and took it very seriously and was alot more accomplished and better - and the feintings and 'fancy' stuff used to work extremely well. If I stood more upright I'd be alot more vulnerable and susceptble to being hit. I tried a more 'orthodox' approach and got broken ribs as a result.
No offense...but the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw that video was "Lord help you"
why don't you show us a vid of yourself, tough guy
and if your the other guy..lol..hey its all good..but like i tell my son you watch too much tv
how old are you, Larry?
