It was announced this morning that Alexander Alexeev (WBO #2 cruiserweight) will fight Victor Emilio Ramirez (WBO #9) for the interim WBO cruiserweight title on Jan 17 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The winner of Jonathan Banks vs. Enzo Maccarinelli for the regular WBO title will need to face the winner of Alexeev vs. Ramirez later in the year.
I noticed in his recent photos he looked rather unhealthy, with acne. I was going to put him on in my avatar, but I couldn't find a photo where he looked okay.
In his fight with Talmage Griffis, he had the same acne and seemed to have the body build of someone with poor eating habits, although he fought well. He looked somewhat better against Azille, and looked healthy against Rob Calloway.
I have the feeling he may not be taking very good care of himself. He needs to find a girlfriend who's a nutritionist.
Did they televise Golovkin's fight, Bat?
Yes they did.
Golovkin made short work out of his opponent so he's difficult to gauge, but he did look nice and tight.
I have to admit, Alexeev's loss today was much more of a setback than Haye's loss to Thompson, for a number of reasons.
Exactly! What was alexeev trying? Win by decision?
Alexeev didnt gas out! He wasnt punching like haye was against thompson!
If alexeev was gassed out he really needs to work on stamina!

Alexeev lasted more rounds before gassing against young Ramirez than Haye lasted against the age 41 Thompson.
Alexeev tonight looked in poor condition and simply could not handle the pressure Ramirez brought. Also his power was definetely lacking. It could have been an off-night but I would say he'd have to take his career more serious.
Some rebuilding of his confidence is needed.
Right but i wasnt impressed with alexeev! he wasnt aggressive at all time!
With this performance i dont see him to the best fighters in his division!

Big deal. Up and comers lose all the time. It's how they bounce back that matters more.
There are a lot of underated fighters in the world that come out of the woodwork and do this sort of thing to prospects.
Same shit happened to your boy Haye early in his career (gassed out and got beat on). There's always time to improve.
The top of the heap at cruiser is pretty good at this point and he's obviously not near there.
Yeah but haye really wanted to ko thompson! He tryed everything and gave a good fight ! If alexeev done the same to ramirez he would lay on the ground
!

I thought Alexeev was being a little too highly regarded (I'm sceptical of all prospects) but I must say that I did not expect this result at all.

Ramirez' record has one of the funniest results in a fight ever.
Lol. Yeah. What an odd comment!
9: A. starts well to the body. R. comes back with a nasty left hook that shakens A.
R. keeps the pressure and lands several powerful hooks. A. has no snap in his punches. R has! Towards the end R. has A. in dire straits!
Between rounds: Sdunek says: I will not have you getting KO'ed!
In the 8'th Alexeev is marked around the right eye. He gets trapped in a corner and takes a few shots. By now he looks visibly faded.
Between rounds Alexeev looks bewildered and breaths hard.
In round 6 Alexeev eats a lot of leather and is frustrated with the pressure the argentinian is applying.
In the break Alexeev is breathing hard, but still no distress from his trainer the very fine Fritz Sdunek. He's urged to jab, jab, jab.
In round 7 Alexeev mounts a 2 fisted attack, but Ramirez weathers the storm.
Between round 7 and 8 Alexeev breaths hard and Ramirez looks in perfect shape!
