Who you guys think? I only ask because supposely 2009 will be Manny's last year as he said last year that he'll be running for elections again in 2010 and he had planned on retiring in 2009. So let's assume all that will happen and 09 will in fact be his last year, who will be the new face of boxing for those that believe Pacquiao is the new as basically Oscar passed it on to him now.
the funny part is i bet a person like you would never have the balls to talk all tough to anyones face..guys like you are a joke, you live at home with your parents and dont have anything better to do then talk shit over the internet..
and you never answered the part of why pacquiao has never sold over 300,000 buys?
dude your clearly ignorant. you have no idea. the pacquiao/ de la hoya fight was FREE in the phillipines. even DLH haters dont deny the fact that the man has been the face of boxing for the last decade. if these asian countries pay so much to watch pacquiao fight then tell me why without DLH he has never done over 300,000 buys? ive probably been to more countries then you can even name.
Ortiz has the most potential. He's a talented up and coming fighter of course but he's also American (which is key), he's of Mexican descent and will appeal to the large Mexican fanbase within the U.S., he has a likable personality, and with his KO power, he has the ability to put on some exciting fights.
yeah but in your little asian world, nobody has the money to pay 54.99 on a fight...so it comes down to who is marketable in the united states.. why do you think guys from the uk never become big in the usa? its because las vegas is the boxing capital of the world, not manilla
pacquiao will never be the face of boxing. he doesnt connect with and draw the casual fan to events..the only two boxers i can see becoming the face of boxing now are Miguel Cotto, or Victor Ortiz..until one of them emerges..Oscar will still be the face of the sport..and Oscar knows that, that is why he will continue to fight until he can sign Cotto to GBP, or Victor Ortiz starts headlining cards.
I don't see Andre Berto as the next thing, I am not that impressed to be honest. I haven't seen Luis Collazo fight in a really long time, but if he comes in right, it will be a close fight.
Daniel Jacobs, JuanMa Lopez, hopefully Yuriorkis Gamboa, for some reason i don't see Victor Ortiz, James Kirkland, or Alfredo Angulo, as much as I like him, being the next bid thing. Maybe Sergio Martinez also.
Well you guys are certainly naming a lot of good prospects and great upcoming fighters but, I'm talking about 1 single guy that will be the new face that the public will think of when they think of boxing. Or that 1 big guy that you go out and pay to watch his PPV no matter who he's facing. That's what I really meant. I mean sure, I know theres gonna be a lot of great upcoming fighters like Valero and Lopez, but they aren't going to be nearly as big. Only in the eyes of boxing fans.
Yeah I thought the same thing when answering you're question... The fact is how many fighters really crossover like DLH and now Manny??? Individuals like these two are so beloved for the skills and drama shown in their matches as well as their personality.. Very hard question to answer, but great question nonetheless

Dawson and Ortiz..
Ortiz will win a title, its a matter of time.. His hardest fight would be Bradley NOT Hatton (which i doubt would happen)
Dawson is going to clean 175 then possibly 168
