Since Ring Magazine's P4P list was inaugurated in the late 80's we have had 9 P4P #1's. Who do you think is the most boring to watch fight?
Vote and discuss. :D
Is this Mayweather's excuse for being boring? because there are a lot of fighters who moved up in weight and never became boring. :D
They also tend to lose if they are exciting when they move up...
That is what baffles me about Pacquiao... somehow a light flyweight is still able to win his fights at lightweight/welterweight with offense, and not having to depend on defense to win it for him.
But really, when Chavez moved up to 147, all his power and effectiveness was basically gone.

Naw his excuse would be because he messed up his hands so he had to become more defensive and pot shot. Btw who in the world would pick Tyson??? I don't get that.
Mayweather wasnt boring at the lower weights. He got less and less active when he moved up unfortunately.

Hopkins at the time he was ranked number 1 p4p by the Ring Magazine was horrible to watch.
Even a 43 year old Hopkins is more interesting to watch than the Hopkins who fought Joppy, Eastman, Taylor...
I would have to say Hopkins. Hopkins fights with Joppy,Holmes have to be two of the most horrible fights ive have ever seen, but not just because they were boring, but because they were ugly to watch too there was lots of holding and hitting grappling and not much action at all.
Hopkins fight with Taylor,Tarver were sleep fests too. Hopkins fight with Eastman ZZZ.
Hopkins fights with Robert Allen messy and disjointed.
Hopkins fight with J D Jackson messy and disjointed
I appreciate the subtle stuff Nard does, but i aint about to pretend he is exciting, because he aint. Hopkins fights with Mercado were very entertaining as was his performance against Simon Brown,Glen Johnson,Frank but apart from that he has mostly been boring to watch
Weird... I actually found the Tarver fight to be pretty okay. Hopkins got pretty violent with Tarver during some parts of it.
Other than that... yeah, a lot of Hopkins's fights are just dreadful to watch.
Well the rematch was boring because of both. Forrest grabbed too much, and Shane was too cautious, because he was scared of getting crushed with another huge right hand like the first fight.
The first was fairly entertaining to me, although it was not close at all. Forrest had a killer instinct in the first one... he certainly didn't make that one boring.
Agreed
Also Shane changed tactics and that made Forrest change up because early on Mosley was having some success. Forrest changed up midway through and made Mosley come to him but that meant he had to play the waiting game and that is why the fight looked a bit boring too i would say.
The first fight there was just too much holding from Forrest from my point of view anyway.

Hopkins for me
Pea and Floyd were defensive fighters but Hopkins clinches to much, he's a smart fighter and probably the best fighter of the era but his style is not for me
Very easy...SSM.
when undefeated forrest beat undefeated mosley , people all agreed that forrest was #1 p4p, aftter he won the rematch, he fought mayorga next, then he got k0d in 3 rounds by mayorga
****... that is totally true. I didn't even think about Hopkins for some reason.
And my god, he was very exciting in the Pavlik fight.
I'm going to set my DVR to record it then, when they replay it this weekend, along with the Margarito fight (just so i can watch it in HD, not on my computer, for the 10th time), and pacquiao-marquez 2.
I would only consider putting Whitaker and Hopkins as the two guys on this list from those above. Mayweather is not a boring fighter by any means, outside of the Baldomir fight, but it's not his fault Baldo is incapable of even grazing him and way bigger. Sweat pea didn't prevent you from fighting, he made you missed, that's fun to watch, especially when he fires back.
I picked Hopkins though, most of the time I feel like he is trying to avoid fighting and fights with tons of holding and moving, little punching. I did miss the Pavlik fight though and he was said to have looked good.

Your kiddin me...You've hurt me. My turn to be an a-hole
I did not enjoy any of those fights... I'm just being honest.
And yes, Wright got blown up by Vasquez. I'm well aware.
The thing that comforts me about that is that this was before he changed his style. He basically was Cory Spinks back when he fought Vasquez. Guard up counter puncher has only lost twice, to Vargas and Hopkins, and neither were bad for him, almost at all.

Floyd is considered boring because of Baldy, DLH correct? Atleast they were something....SSM's opposition at 135 sucked...Yeah he was entertaining there but then wasn't Floyd damn entertaining against Gatti, Henry Bruseles, Sharmba Mitchell? You know what I'm sayin
Where as SSM didn't impress me against Winky, Vernon Forrest and both DLH fights
Lol, you forgot to add other mind numbingly boring Floyd fights like Vargas, Rios, Juuko, Sosa, etc.
Mosley's style is more suited to entertainment than Floyd...
Plus, I think it is hard to be entertaining when you are getting your ass kicked, so I give him a pass in the fights he lost. I've heard the Mosley-DLH fights were pretty badass... they are on my list to watch.
The Forrest fights were boring...not because of Mosley. :D

You think Mosley is a boring fighter? Wow...
He's easily the worst fighter to have been P4P #1, but... damn, the most boring? I don't think so.
