I had an interesting conversation with Daniel after the Manny - Oscar fight at the MGM Grand. I won't go into what was said, but it was rather interesting.
Anyway, how would a fight between a Hall of Famer, Daniel Zaragoza (Prime) vs the 122lbs Manny Pacquiao turn out? Remember, Daniel was trained by Nacho Beristain and was a master boxer and southpaw. I think he would have presented problems for Manny.
I honestly don't know who he is. I've been a boxing fan on and off for about 17 years and probably wasn't paying attention during this guy's reign..
Look up his fight vs Wayne McCollough. And that was at the end of his career. The man was a great fighter. He KO'd Carlos Zarate, another Hall of Famer, with tremendous KO power (63 KOs in 66 wins). Zaragoza was a rugged, long range southpaw with a very unique style. Yeah Erik Morales beat him, but that was at the tail end of Daniel's career. Zaragoza in his prime would give the 122lbs version of Manny, the same one that went through hell with the late Agapito Sanchez (another southpaw), a very tough fight.
No offense and I'm not trying to be mean, but why the **** mention something and then not tell us?
As for this, I haven't seen Zaragoza so I won't comment
It was just talk about the fight. I don't care to put any fighters comments out there like that.

I was gonna vote but I didn't see the option "who the phuck is Dan Zaragoza?"....

Pac was a monster at 122. 1-dimensional, yes, but he was relentless and just rolled over the opposition with his size and power.
People seems to forget that Ledwaba was a fine boxer. But, he wasn't able to keep Pac off of him with his crisp jabs and movement.
I reckon Pac stops Zaragoza in the late rounds.
fine then. you are forgetting the fact that DZ would not quit against Manny, then or now. it'd be a tko by beatdown then, but Daniel was the man back then.
Zaragoza did not have the power to hurt anyone with one punch. That was not his strength. His advantage was his unique punching style. And, in his prime, the problems he had with cuts and swelling were not as bad as they were later in his career.
The problems with cuts were still there in his career, maybe not as bad as it was when he got older but it was still there, Zaragoza's punching style was awkward but Pacquiao is awkward himself and was the faster of the two and more powerful, the 122 version of Pacquiao was more one dimensional though and he pretty much only knew how to come forward back then to land his left hand, it would be a war.
If we were talking about Pacquiao now at 122 against Zaragoza, Pacquiao would stop him.
I think Pacquiao would have been too fast for Zaragoza, and Zaragoza didn't really have the power to hurt Pacquiao with 1 punch, Pacquiao by stoppage on cuts.

Pac by dec. this is a close one. DZ took Morales to the distance back in 96/97. I dunno Pac wasnt really doing jack shit back then but given his potential he'd still win. I still pick Norwood over Pac at 126 in '99/00 lol

Pacman is deadly at SBW, he got a one punch KO back then...

Edit: Just read the thread title again, the 122 pound version of Pacquiao was much more one dimensional, Zaragoza's experience may pull him through in that case but Zaragoza's tendency to cut up could still be a big factor because Pacquiao has the type of punches to cut up an opponent and Pacquiao's speed would still give Zaragoza a lot of problems, one dimensional as he may have been.
