I heard UFC, boxing, and WWE only get about 40% of the PPV money and the rest goes to the cable companies. Is this true? If so that is absolutely high way robbery.
The people quoting these numbers are theorizing. The percentages go up and down depending on who is the attraction, and the number of paying customers. In the past Oscar De La Hoya could command a higher percentage than Joe Blow simply because he has an established fan base. You can bet he is walking away with a lot more than 50%. A box office star can write his own paycheck.
Is the 50/50 split for all events or just boxing?
Does this seem like BS to anyone else. The cable companies getting half the profits just because they have a monoply on PPV?

Generally speaking, the PPV company distributing the fight gets about 50% of the PPV revenues.
