Why hasn't Juan Carlos Gomez had a title shot yet? Why does it seem like he has been avoided and now being avoided by all the heavy hitters?
Lesser fighters have had a shot at the titles many times over.
He had one hiccup with Yanqui Diaz and then with the blow. What gives?
Why hasn't David Haye called his name out?
Well he needs to make a name for himself by fighting some top 10 heavyweight contenders before going after a title. His heavyweight resume has zero names besides McCall...
Gomez should be fighting Vitali yet but Vitali is going after Haye first and to be honest Vitali vs Haye is gonna make much more money than a gomez fight. Gomez should try and get a fight with Valuev or Wlad next or just wait and fight the winner of Vitali Haye.
David Haye has bigger fish to fry , I wouldnt want Haye to fight Gomez instead of Wald, so Gomez can fight Fres Oquendo or Chris Arreola or Odlanier Solis. He has to have a comeback fight first instead
With Vitali F'ing around with Haye, Wladimir busy with Povetkin, Gomez should kick Valuev's ass.
He's not a big name, and so doesn't bring as much money as, for example, David Haye. He should learn to promote himself and improve his profile the way Haye does.
His promoter, Ahmed Oner, is known to be crooked, and Oner has a partnership with Don King, who the Klitschkos don't trust.
What he said. High risk plus low reward = no thanks.

Also there's the cocaine abuse smear on his boxing record - let's not forget, coke is an illegal hard drug.
I didn't know he had cocaine history...
Weird, usually Cubans are among the cleanest fighters, because of what they had to grow up in... They are all sport, all the time.
Anyway, Tunney is obviously right... in a heavyweight division that doesn't have a single person who gets on PPV in America, Gomez is considered the anti-draw of the crowd.
It's irritating, because whenever I tried to come up with the best heavyweight challengers for the Klitschkos, I totally forgot about Gomez, even though he probably is the best fighter in the division outside of the Klitschkos.
