I think he is looking for a big money fight and perhaps Gonzalez has come along a bit too late for him. To take the fight soon would not allow Gonzalez the time to be a household name for it to be a massive fight and to take it later, I see very little chance for calderon; he would not be able to run for 12 and Gonzalez can really make you pay.
It is the match though, they are the highest rated RING guys in the two lowest divisions and the fight can happen at either weight, Gonzalez can barely make 105 and has had a lot of fights at 108 already.
can somebody please tell goblin why is his nick name "chocolate"?? i want to know.
He is quite dark skinned, he was called chocolatito " little chocolate" when it is pronounced in spanish, it sounds like chocolatay.
Roman Gonzalez is a ****ing monster man. Someone with very fast hands and angles could give him problems, but there are going to get chin checked anyway because the dude is just so strong. Niida was kinda doing better in the 4th round, but was still taking massive blows and got seriously hurt. Then his eye was shut and they called the fight.
I don't see Calderon being able to beat Gonzalez. Gonzalez is to big and strong. He also has pretty damn good power.
So there shouldn't be a problem Calderon taking the fight, Gonzalez was just rated in RING magazine as one of the the top 10 fighters expected to breach the top 10 pound for pound this year; seems like the obvious match.
Gonzalez wants it, does Calderon?
You are just repeating the same thing that Calderon's previous 32 opponents have said and they all failed.
amen. people seem to love to discredit Calderons skill.
Gonzalez has only fought at 105 once this year and that was for the title, he's 108 guy already.
To assume Cazares is in the same league is either a comment made from ignorance or delusion.
Gonzalez skills are a thing of beauty that rarely comes along.
Take you Puerto Rican hat off and smell the roses, your man is way past the point of being able to handle a gonzalez.
Check this out, in only his 14th fight against top class opposition. This is what the sweet science is all about, not running all day like calderon, the little bitch.

The guy can bang, but you cant hit what you cant see!!!!!!! Calderon is going to school this guy. He have a good record, but against who? Calderon by wide UD!!!!!!
You might be right if this were another scenario but Gonzales is young, is the real deal and is still improving, Calderon is old and wont be able to keep Gonzales away for more than 4 rounds, because he will be taking punishment even if he is winning on the scorecard early.
As great as Julio cesar chavez was , he never had the all round talent that Gonzales has.
That may come as an outragous statement to many but time will tell it is an accurate one.
Calderon has never faced anyone like Gonzales, champions come and go; I think Calderon is an amazing fighter but what I see in Gonzales in something I havent seen for many years. A textbook boxer, super fast hands, the best uppercut in boxing with devastating power in both hands and a granite chin.
The time is now!
Bring it on HBO, it wont be as exciting as Hatton, Paquaio but we will get a new superstar, which is so badly needed.
Calderon will not be allowed to run for 12 rounds, Gonzales will cut that ring off and hunt him down like a dog and then it will be goodnight, just like it was with Niida.
At 34 calderon cant keep him off for 12 rounds and he has no punching power.
What most people dont seem to realize is , Gonzalez is very technically gifted as a boxer as well as being a brutal finisher.
Gonzalez is the ring magazine number one straweight, he wont hit the pound for pound until he takes calderon.
And I promise you he will. Calderon hates body shots and Gonzalez is a beast of a body puncher.
His greatness is just over the horizon, he just needs the scalp of Calderon.
Tell me who is the p4p here man? Who the **** is Gonzalez, who has he beaten? what has he done to be respected in this sport? Now cause he has a pretty record Ivan has to be scared of him?
WOW he beat Tellez a guy that had lost his last 6 fights!!!!
He has fought 2 times outside of Nicaragua and detroned Niida wow That guy has never fought outside of Japan
Calderon is 34 in january, Cazares nearly caught up to him and he is not in the same league as Gonzalez.
Gonzalez took out the number one straweight Niida , who had held the title for 7 years in 3 1/2 rounds.
calderon is no fool, he knows who Gonzalez is and my guess is , he wants the fight on perfect terms for him because will catch him and hurt him.
Your lack of knowledge of Gonzalez makes you the one to laugh at.
