is kessler getting to much credit

Of course hes a great boxer and hes one of my favorites, although i do believe the injury thing is just an excuse from his fans to why he lost. Just like when Dawson beat Adamek and he was all of a sudden ''weight'' drained even when before the fight, he stated that he felt great. Think about it, why did he suffer his first injury in the biggest fight of his life and why didn't he postpone? Here he didn't spar in the last 3 weeks because of the injury. His hand was surgically repaired after the Calzaghe fight contributing to his 7 month 'lay-off' that followed. Injured Kessler kept it COMPETITIVE. That's my main point. Don't you see a good fighter there? It's called 'the ability to spot talent'. Jones won 1 round. At the very most he won 2. He was obliterated for at least 10 or 11. Watch the fight again if you think he won more than that. If you gave Jones 3 or more, you obviously hate Calzaghe and don't score fights fairly because of it. I had it 11 rounds to 1. Bika was one of the dirtiest fighters Calzaghe has fought. He pulled every trick in the book and had nothing to lose, and nothing to offer Joe. Those fights are the riskiest. Despite cheating, he lost a hugely lop-sided decision. Hopkins had single right hand shots, 163 clinches, and lots of headbutts. If that's "boxing brilliance" to you, then you ought to be calling Joe Calzaghe a genius. Against Calzaghe, Hopkins looked like shit. Against Hopkins, Calzaghe looked like shit. It's their styles. They will never gel or look pretty, no matter how many times they fight. Their styles cancel each other out. Robin Reid won about 5 rounds, but Joe was injured pretty badly in that fight and apparently recovering from food poisoning. Again though, Reid was reduced to a one-punch wonder, like Hopkins. Lacy destroyed Reid later on. So did Froch. If Reid fought Calzaghe at 100% he would probably not win a round. Lacy didn't win a round. Charles Brewer was quite competitive, him and Joe threw bombs at each other for 12 rounds straight, but it was still a lop-sided decision for Calzaghe. I could go on. Buit back to Kessler. He looked good, didn't cheat even once, only clinched 3 times, and his boxing is beautifully clean. Mikkel is a great boxer. Kessler, even with an injured hand, gave Calzaghe one of his best fights to date and kept it competitive throughout. To me, that means he deserves to be up there as being very close to the #1 SMW spot, if not at the very top. Would Froch fare as well against Calzaghe? No way. Taylor? He doesn't get enough credit. I said this before, but often the fighter is better than the resume suggests. Personally, I think we are looking at a great fighter in Mikkel Kessler. Give the guy a chance. He is trying to make big fights and barely anyone wants to know. Mikkel doesn't deserve disrespect. Another good post.

Librado Andrade Anthony Mundine Markus Beyer Manny Siaca Eric Lucas He doesn't have the best resume but he's got enough credible wins to be respected. throw in the fact that hes beaten that level of opposition pretty soundly and that hes not been afraid to travel to their own home countries as well and suddenly it starts to look even better. personally i think if you were to completely ignore the fighters resume and break down his attributes - his speed, power, strength, chin, stamina, size and skill set then you are looking at a fighter who belongs in the top 10 p4p. theres no doubt in my mind that its just a matter of time, alot of top boxing writers have had him on the periphery of the top 10 p4p for a few years now. the only thing he needs to do now is show that he does belong in high company, to do that he needs the taylor fight. hope it comes sooner rather than later, hes a great fighter someone who would really make it big in the US. hes a fantastic boxer puncher, clinches very rarely, is exciting, good looking and respectful of the opposition.

No... I mean the same could be said of King Arthur Abraham, but when a fighter is really good, they are really good. Both guys dismantled their opposition, and in Kessler's case, there is no shame in losing a 12 round decision to Calzaghe.
