30 years from now, long after Paquiao loses to Hatton and Chad Dawson gets demolished by a light-heavy Paul Williams, Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe will be the sole beacons of perfection in an era swamped with disputed belts and numerous weight classes. They will win the crown by default, and Mayweather will get the edge over Joe since he was P4P for 3 straight years.
The "D word" will not even be mentioned when speaking of these 2.
Margarito appears to be important now, but the guy already has 5 losses at age 30!!! Those are prime years hes wasted... SRR had 125 fights at that age and only lost once. By the time Margarito retires he will be pushing double digits in the L column and no one will even remember the missed fight with a blown up Lightweight ATG.
Calzaghes resume' will get better with age and he doesnt need chad dawson to come out on top in the history books.
Floyd & Joe will be immortalized.
Hopkins is easly the best of this Era.
Mayweather is also, however 1 or 2 more big fights would have helped, but he has done alot more than what people give credit for.
As for Joe Calzaghe, sorry, this guy never went Prime v Prime against an Elite Boxer

Joe Calzaghe is not very high on an all time list. Not top 50 for sure. And Bernard and Roy Jones are well ahead of em...along with Evander, Lennox, etc.

that is your opinion man... i have no problems with it... but i have an opinion too... manny pacquiao as it stands right now is the best fighter of this decade...

you make floyd fans look bad with dumbass threads like this...a defeat doesnt make you less of a fighter..so hopkins, jones, tony, and pacman arnt atg's???
This era of boxing is the biggest running joke in sports.
No one wants to unite the titles.
There are too many dam weight divisions.
W/L records is the only thing we can go buy.
Mayweather will be placed higher than all the names you mentioned, and Calzaghe will be on equal footing with Jones and Hopkins.
ok lets forget about Chavez, Whittiker, Jones, Hopkins, Trinidad, Toney, Lewis, Holyfield all of those guys, lets just focus on Calzaghe and Mayweather because they are undefeated... no no yeah yeah this makes total sense. :ugh::smashfrea are you freaking kidding me !
By Era Im referring to 2000 and beyond, so Whittiker and the 90s heavyweights like Lewis and Holyfield are not included.
Roy Jones unfortunately will not be judged fairly by history. His career bleeds into the 2000s with Calzaghes career and Cal will get the nod over him. You cant argue that Roy was IN his prime when he beat trinidad, but not in his prime when he lost to Calzaghe a few months later. There only 3 years age difference that seperate the two.

This sounds like a fan who is completely blinded by someone retaining their "0." Calzaghe's Resume will lose most of its Polish in years. The likes of Jeff Lacy will not be a blip in anyone's memory banks.

Sorry dude. Mayweather certainly but you can't say Joe Calzaghe is on the same level... Imagine a Mayweather with Calzaghe's resume, he wouldn't even been taken seriously really. Imagine Floyd fighting mandatories for 10 years, moving up in weight 7 pounds from 130 to 135 in a decade to beat 40 year old Barrera (just imagine) and 43 year old lets say Castillo. How much credit would he have? Don't be fooled, the way Joe Calzaghe looks has the most to do with people putting him up there, not the way he fights or how good he is.

The is by far the dumbest post in the history of boxing scene at least during my time here and thats saying a lot!
ok lets forget about Chavez, Whittiker, Jones, Hopkins, Trinidad, Toney, Lewis, Holyfield all of those guys, lets just focus on Calzaghe and Mayweather because they are undefeated... no no yeah yeah this makes total sense. :ugh::smashfrea are you freaking kidding me !
Deadly serious.
It will happen.
I agree with you, history respects winners.
Marciano got 49-0 and although hardcore fans will tell you Ali would beat the shit out of him the casual fans go by numbers and after seeing Ali has 5 losses they will say Marciano was better.
As far as Bernard Hopkins is concerned, yes he's a great fighter but the public never warmed to him, only in Philidelphia will he be remembered as one of the greatest. Calzaghe has 60M Brits who will remember him when he's retired + Italian and some American fans.
People will see a W next to Calzaghe against Hopkins and Calzaghe's 46-0 record and they will say he was the better of the two, whether that's right or wrong it will happen. You can say it wont all you like but it will happen.

Joe will be remembered forever, no doubt!! In the future you will read books and see movies about Joes career and life. His legend will just grow and grow :D
no, it will be the other way around.
Im glad im not the only one here who appreciates perfection. Clazaghe will reach ATG status based on the last 3 names on his resume' alone. His undefeated record will immortalize him.
God help us. When will these idiots stop coming out of the woodwork?
