chris was not so close to prime...... :nonono:
he'd lost like 2 of his last 3-4 fights.
he hadn't even fought at 168 in years.
shit! i think he was training for a cruiserweight fight when he got the short notice.
Chris Eubank returned to boxing a year later, organising a two fight program to box where he would have defended his title in the Sky deal, beating Luis Barrera in Cairo, Egypt, and Camilo Alarcon in Dubai. He then signed a deal with Frank Warren to fight again on Sky.
Eubank again accepted a title fight at short notice again when Collins retired before facing Joe Calzaghe, 22-0 (21). Chris had returned to training for a challenge for the WBC intercontinental light-heavyweight title, with a view to a world title shot at that weight. Yet with his old title vacated, he accepted the offer to try to regain his old title, facing a young and fit Joe Calzaghe. After an exhausting two week weight draining regimen Eubank fought bravely in losing a 12 round decision.
Close to Prime Calzaghe whooped Close to Prime Eubank.

Benn was an intense individual, I doubt many people trained as intensely as he did, that doesn't mean Eubank didn't work hard in the gym.
I saw that, Eubank whining was pretty funny, it's understandable though, I mean he's retired, he may not have wanted to do anything too physical anymore.
fair enough
Did n't it make you feel like Eubank should just STFU and man up :lol1:
Do you honestly think Eubank was as dedicated and trained as intensely as Nigel Benn? Eubank was known to want do things his way and he even parted ways with Ronnie Davis pre Calzaghe to train himself.
Did you ever see the documentary with Eubank,Benn it was clalled gladiators ? i think it showed what the difference in character between Eubank and Benn, Benn wanted to get on with it Eubank just wanted to moan and complain about the training etc.

That could just be because of how he acted in public, he had an unique persona in public to say the least.

Agreed
Yeah you maybe right then, its just when i look at Watson,Benn and then i look at Eubank,Watson and Benn look like far more intense dedicated trainers i know Benn was and i know Watson was pretty diligent trainer himself too.

Yeah, Taylor seems like a guy who has bad stamina, I don't think he can do much to improve it, he's got a good jab though so that makes things a little easier on him.
I've heard Eubank was a pretty hard worker in the training.

Eubank did have naturally bad stamina but compared to Taylor he had tremendous stamina. Taylor had a 1 flurry against Pavlik and he was virtually done........even against Lacy he was tired and they were fighting at a snails pace.
i believe Eubank had a lazy attitude and he liked to do things his own way i question his methods and dedication to training.

I know, that's why I said I've never heard him not preparing and conditioning himself well for a fight.
That could have been because of his weight problems though, he moved up in weight about a year later after the Watson fight, and I've heard he had problems making 160 for a while before the Watson fight so that could explain why his stamina was better against Benn in their second fight which was at 168, and Benn didn't force the fight as much as he did in the first fight so that helped Eubank. I think Eubank, just like Taylor, had naturally bad stamina.

Looking ripped counts for nothing though, Eubank looked in tremendous shape for the first Benn fight but he was still struggling to hold onto the body shots.
Eubank did look inshape for his second fight with Benn and he did not tire at all.
Im not saying Eubank had great stamina but his stamina was better than Taylor's when he was conditioned properly.

I'm not sure about that, Eubank always looked in tip top shape for his fights and there haven't been many reports of him slacking off in training to my knowledge, I know he had problems with weight, first with making 160 then making 168 which could have contributed somewhat to his low-ish punch output.

Yeah... had better reflexes than Taylor too and obviously a grannite chin.
I believe Taylor does actually contdition himself correctly i just think he has bad stamina naturally where as with Eubank it was a case of him not conditioning himself correctly.

Indeed, Eubank was better at doing it though, he made opponents weary of punching at him because of his defense and counterpunching, Taylor mainly relies on his jab.

calzaghe beats roy jones, hopkins, and eubank in their primes. how do i know this? cause he already did! duh! roy jones was especially primey.
he has a W over prime colins too via injury.
Yeah Eubank reminds me of Jermain Taylor he is a pace setter too and he has bad stamina like Eubank.

I think Calzaghe would have won, Eubank was always a pace setter, he never really liked his opponents fighting at a high pace which is what Calzaghe would do, Calzaghe by decision.

Calzaghe wins even in Eubank's prime.
I agree. Both Eubank and Benn would have had chances, though, and I can't see JC KO-ing either. I'd say 60% chance Calzaghe UD, 40% Eubank (or Benn) KO.
