Jones does not have enough to keep Tyson off him, and he does not use enough lateral movement to keep Tyson turning to offset him ......also he is horrible at tying his man up on the inside. Jones would not see the 12 th round.

Small chance, but hear me out. Roy could only win by SD,MD or Ud(115-113). Not enough power for a KO, mabye a lucky flash KD. Roy couldn't trade at any point in the first 5 rounds, thats obvious. So, his plan would be to evade Tyson for 5 rounds, while landing as may body shots a possible. This, of course, would put Tyson up by 5 rounds(given Tyson does KTFO Roy). After the 5th round Roy would be able to take the fight based on Tyson's lack of endurance(Douglas fight). That would be his only chance, win the rest of the 7 rounds. Whatever you've been smoking, I'd like some too. ;)

I think some people are impressed with how good Jones looked before he had been hit. As soon as he got hit, he was never the same. But seriously, Tyson wouldn't just sit at medium range and let Jones take him to school. He'd be in his ass throwing short combinations to his ribs and throat. I still think the weight-loss not only took something out of him physically, but took it out of him mentally; the two go hand in hand. The KO loss just made it worse. Roy was hit before even though it may surprise people; even knocked down. Either way, you can have Roy on his best night; he still isn't going to beat Prime Tyson. Tyson, unlike the majority of HWs that are slow plodders, he was a throw-back to Dempsey who could sprint incredibly fast forward and make up room in a split second. But, we both know this wouldn't matter with "if" because Roy wouldn't have taken the fight. Like I said in my other post: If Roy needed 100 million to face a past-prime Tyson, he isn't facing Prime Tyson.

You should check out this fight with former light heavyweight champ, Bob Foster, against Joe Frazier as a reference. Old Bobby Foster thought he could contend with heavyweight too, and then he got his ass "smoked" by Joe Frazier in only two rounds. I would also add to your response to the poster that what many forget is that a Prime Tyson trained by Rooney was fit to fight 12 full rounds. Rooney had sparring sessions for Mike that would mimic tough fights and force him to go at least 10 hard rounds or so I hear. I've heard Mike's favorite sparring sessions were between him and Olive McCall. Of course, the downside to this all, in the long run is that Mike would have been spent by 32, if not sooner. But, to be the best you have to train like the best. I once heard the original plan was to have Mike retire before 30; like 29, and after beating Marciano's record. Makes sense if true.

Tyson in the late 80's early 90's against Jones? Tyson would eat him up. Jones is older, i think. They fought during the same generation, so Jones was well in his 20's and Tyson was in his early 20's. There's no way that Jones would stand a chance against a beast like that. The only shot Jones has is the stay away long enough to control the pace of the fight. Unlikley though. If Jones can get KO'd by Antonio Tarver.....twice, then i don't think he can stand up to Tyson. Jones is 39/40 Tyson is now 42 years old. Tyson turned pro at 18 and was fighting in championship fights while Jones was still an amature.
