Excerpt from Dan Rafael of ESPN:
"But if -- and it's a big if -- De La Hoya decides to fight again, which I hope he doesn't, there is only one bout I can imagine generating any kind of heat, at least among Hispanic fans, who have been De La Hoya's most loyal supporters.
After a layoff, I can envision De La Hoya moving back up to junior middleweight for a farewell fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. , the son of the aging legend against whom De La Hoya scored two victories. There's a built-in storyline and, given how bad De La Hoya looked against Pacquiao, it's not crazy to give the relatively untested Chavez a chance to win. One notable boxing matchmaker, who has never thought much of Chavez, told me the other day that he'd give Junior a chance to beat De La Hoya. Just food for thought."

Yes, fight JCC Jr. on network television!! Put Berto and Ward on the undercard! The future of American boxing. Maybe even throw Arreola on the undercard.

dlh should not make this fight... he'll get more hate for beating up jr
I think Oscar's farewell fight was against Mayweather. He was great that night, being 34 years old, fighting the best pound 4 pound fighter in the world and losing in a split dec.
Oscar has nothing to prove and should retire.
That fight was not a split decision despite what the judges say.
DLH won no more than 4 rounds.
Do it for papa Jr.

Could be too, but if he wants 1 more fight then JCC JR could be it..

If De La Hoya wants to fight again i think he should take this fight, would be a big fight because of the history and the names. Could really build this feud up aswell as baby Chavez looks for revenge for his farther. And it would probaly be at 154 De La Hoya really weight were he wound't be weight drained because if you at his fights before Forbes and Pac-Man he looked really good at 154 he destroyed and Mayorga and took at the time p4p1 Floyd Mayweather to a very close decision. And i think Chavez Jr is showing potential but i think would have a lot faults Oscar would exploit to get a victory. But who knows after the beating Oscar took if has got anything left?
I think the weight affected DLH alot, 154 against Chavez Jr would be his best farewell fight, plus he can quiet all the Hardcore Chavez fans that say he beat an old fighter. :fing02:
