Could this fight even be possible meaning could Manny win??? even though ive been predicting Pacquiao would beat DLH i still thought that this fight should be pacquiao's only fight at welterweight. but now i mean its an interesting idea. im not sure what to think of this fight... what about you guys?
For sure i know Margarito would be too huge for pacquiao but against Cotto while he is the stronger fighter i think pacquiao speed combined with Cotto not being the greatest defensive fighter anyone will ever see could make this an interesting fight...
Cotto got found out as opposite of Gatti :he has skill but lacks the will!
Skill + No heart = Cotto
Heart + No skill = Gatti!
thats taking it way too far. Cotto has plenty of heart he just got beat and did the smart thing by going down before he got f'ed up even more...
Good points. I don't think Pac could pot-shot him the whole way though; I love Pacquiao, I'm Fil-Am after all. But seriously, I think Cotto's just too big for Manny. Way too big. I thought DLH was gonna whomp Pacquiao though, so I could be wrong. I just have a feeling that the fight will remind me of Cotto-Margarito with Pac playing Cotto and beating Cotto to the punch until he gets exhausted and KO'ed w/ all the pressure Cotto puts on him.
You know whether this fight happens or not. Or a fight with Mayweather or watever, the bigger picture and the thing that makes me happy is that this fight by Pac against DLH only helped boxing as an entire whole and i can guarantee will bring more excitement to the sport from the casual fan. Obviously most of us hardcore fans are more easily pleased even if its a good fight between 2 lesser known fighters lol. But its casual fans that ultimately drive any sport to be successful and i think this fight will really help out big time. Manny Pacquiao is the best thing to happen to boxing since maybe De La Hoya cause of his popularity. Anyone who says boxing is dead is a ****in idiot that needs a reality check. Boxing IS ALIVE AND WELL HAHA!!!
i get ur points and its certainly possible. i still think though that Cotto would have to come out strong by imposing his will on Pacquiao because Pacquiao doesnt wear down otherwise and his speed especially in the later rounds would really affect Cotto who does wear down a bit. If Cotto were to come out aggressive from the get go and able to use his body to wear down Pac then i would say Cotto easily wins by KO. Otherwise Pac has a good shot himself of winning.

True, but at least Cotto has his legs. De La Hoya had no legs (literally; I didn't see legs when I saw him, I saw sticks). He reminded me of all the greats who moved down in weight and lost; SRL (dominated by Terrible Terry Norris), Byrd (well he's not a great but he has a win over Vitali)(got beat pillar to post by Shaun George (who also was TKO'ed in the first round by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY's boy Matt Godfrey), and RJJ (no need to explain that). Cotto will probably be outboxed early until he finally gets him to the ropes and lands a flurry of body shots and Manny will take a knee. I don't think he could take Cotto's pressure as Cotto wouldn't have to move down in weight anyway and wouldn't have to play counter-puncher like he did against Marg. Mid round KO I see for Cotto.

roach isn't crazy, he knew enough about oscar to make a calculated gamble, but no way is he throwing manny in against the top WW's.
I'm 99.9% sure Roach and Pac's management are now angling for a giant payday against Ricky Hatton. The question is if they're willing to cross the pond in exchange for huge stadium sellout.
I think if Pacquiao did get ahead that he would finish the deal. What has impressed me most about manny and theres a long list of things but what most has impressed me is just how much of a smart fighter he has become! He is no longer the reckless aggressive fighter that take unnecessary risks for the KO. No he has grown mentally and everyone of his shots are always well thought out and set him up to land vicious combinations. He is so goddamn fast that it doesnt matter who's up against him, that fighter will not see half his punches coming! Manny Pacquiao has truly emerged as the best of his era!

Pacquiao would be ahead on the cards until he gets KO'ed. Up until today, I had no idea prime Manny Pacquiao had the feet to be fleetfooted. I was wrong. But I'm pretty sure he still gets stopped.

Please, let's not get overconfident here. DLH's physical and mental collapse were a big factor in the fight tonight, not to take anything away from Pacquiao. Cotto has both good speed and power that Pacquiao would certainly feel. While tonight was a great testament to Pacquiao's skills, I don't see him doing much to any of the top names at the weight, and the decision to move back down is the right one.
140 now may be an entirely different story though, and this fight gives one confidence that he may be able to compete successfully there even against top young names.
