Just doesn't make sense to me. For a while the same people who are now dissing Arreola (and Haye too) where the same ones complaining about how the heayweight division was a borefest. You get some exciting fighters in there who may not be the best but will give you one hell of a fight and show and now they have people hating on them left and right.
Is it because they came in a form of a Limey (and not American) or a Mexican American (and not a Black American)?
I hear people saying that they are over rated too.. I don't think anyone is saying they are the greatest heavyweights out right now but I seen some bums get title shots in the heavy division and if they can have a title shot, why can't Haye and Arreola?
I don't expect much from Arreola other then being a B level entertaining fighter. To me he will probably be the Arturo Gatti of the Heavys..
As for Haye? **** knows.. I've only seen two of his fights but I'm glad we have these two new and fresh faces in the division, they'll make shit a lot more interesting!

agreed

exactly... you get these no name mandatories that no one cares to see or fighters like Ray Austin getting shots with Klitschko and getting blown out the water..... thats not too exicting
I think they mostly hate on him because, subconsciously, most people realize that his name not only sounds like, but is one letter from being compared to the outer area surrounding the nipple on a female's breast.
That, and he really hasn't been tested yet. :boxing:
Any CW with an equal amount of fights and quick hands and feet would bury this guy. Ok not bury but outbox and win on points.
See that's not hate, that's just what I see. I'm not buying the hype about a dude who literally comes in to a fight with gelatinous tits and who admits his strategy was to put his head down and wing overhand shots until one connected. The left that dropped Walker was well timed, but Walker's defense went to shit after the 2nd round. Any decent and composed fighter would've blocked it.
In conclusion: No hatery. Just honesty.
I'm not drinking the kool-aid on Arreola either but I accept him for what he is and see that he's still going to go further. To the tip-top of the HW picture? Probably not.
But you can say that anyone with hand speed beats him. You just can't.
Sure his comp hasn't been the greatest but he's taking care of business the way he should be. Knockouts.
I know Walker should good hand speed and combo's but Chris adjusted and it took him another round to knock him out. Savior? Nope. Legit prospect that entertains enough to be on HBO? Hell yes.
There's a thin line between hate and brutal honesty, and it's blurred on this site. I think most people aren't trying to hate the guy, but at the same time they aren't going to sit here and be told that he's ready for either Klitschko or the Hayemaker and just believe it. He is the top HW prospect in the US, and that means 2 things these days. Jack and Shit. Any CW with an equal amount of fights and quick hands and feet would bury this guy. Ok not bury but outbox and win on points.

I don't dislike him but when people act like he's the future of the heavyweight division I have to put my foot down. He's in his physical prime when he should be in the best shape of his life and enters the ring with a gut. I can't respect that and I think it will catch up to him. He might be able to get by with that shit against club fighters but when he steps up he'll probably get handled. If he looks like this at 27, how's he going to look 5 or 10 years from now? He better start taking this more seriously or he won't be around long.
Whats your take on offensive linemen who are in their primes with guts?
Chris is never going to be cut up or ripped. His body isn't built that way.
That said, he still could stand to lose about 20-25. Even then, it wouldn't do much for his physique. Just improve his overall conditioning. After watching the fight again, you could see he was gauging Walker in that first round. It was scary watching him do it though.
I disagree 150% with this. Chambers and Thompson beat him easily. John Ruiz and James Toney as well.
No way on Chambers. I think Eddie's handspeed would give him problems (as we saw for 1 round with Walker) but Eddie's power wouldn't bother Chris a bit. With Walker, Chris had to pick his spot then turn the tide. He would let go and pressure Chambers and I think we'd be looking at a late tko.
Thompson could give him problems but he is in no way a lock over Arreola.
Chris A and James have been sparring for years and unless James can get himself in shape then it's not going to happen.
I would actually like to see Arreola v Povetkin.
it's not hating to say he is a limited fighter with no chance of beating the Klitschko brothers, it is quite simply the truth.
i think people would leave Arreola alone if he wasn't being pushed on us. He has no business fighting on HBO when he is only the 3rd best fighter in his own stable (chambers and thompson).
I don't think he's especially good, but he generally makes for pretty entertaining HW fights, which aren't too frequent nowadays.
That's good enough for me. I don't expect greatness out of him.
Exactly, I dont expect him to get a title buh if he does good for him. I'll root for him in fights cuz he makes it interestin.
Probably the best american heavy but people aren't as accepting because he doesn't fit the mold. He looks like he's out of shape 3/4 of the time, doesn't have that one punch knockout power (but he's been getting the job done well), isn't a quick slickster, there isn't one advantage that really stands out over all other heavy's.
On paper it's almost like he's an average fighter but of course he's not. He's also younger than alot of the heavy's out there so give him a little more time. I'd have to say a fight between him and Sam Peter is a toss-up right now. So maybe give him one or two more fights then go with the Peter fight and see how he looks.
Who knows? Maybe he can stick the pressure to Wlad from round 1, escape the bigger shots, and make him crumble in the later rounds? It's not out of the question. He has more size than Sultan so of course he can stay closer to Klitschko and just keep the kitchen really hot.
All of the above is very well said, imo. Except that I have trouble believing that Chris would have better stamina than Vlad over 12 rounds. Especially considering the Emmanuel Stewart, signature, jab-grab-and-lay-your-gigantic-ass-body-over-the-other-guy's-back gameplan that Lil' Klit has been using to stand up for 12 since he put Stewart on the payroll. I want to believe though. Let's see Arreola show up lookin' like a highline pro for his next coupla fights and maybe we all could.

I am not a fan of Arreola because he comes into his fights so overweight.

Chris' bringing excitement and intrest to the hw division, can't be mad at that
I ain't mad at it buh I'm jus sayin dude is gonna get KO'd by someone when he breaks the top five. It won't be Peter buh I don't think any of the top 5 fighters would lose to him.
Chagaev, Vitali, Wlad, Haye and Valuev.
