Hagler avoided McCallum like the clap if remember right!?
Not really, for a long time McCallum's goal was to fight either Duran or Hearns, mainly Hearns because of the bad blood between him and Emanuel Steward and McCallum wasn't too well known until he beat Curry which was in 1987 when Hagler was considering retirement after the Leonard fight so no, Hagler didn't really duck McCallum. Plus McCallum didn't move up to middleweight until 1988 when he lost to Kalambay.
Hearns, Leonard and Duran definitely didn't want to fight him though.
The Hagler of '81-'85 would have beaten McCallum IMO, the '86 version of Hagler would have made for a toss up, but it would have always been competitive and would have been great.Hagler avoided McCallum like the clap if remember right!?
Patterson vs Marciano could have been a great fight, Chuvalo fought similarly to Marciano, Patterson vs Chuvalo was a great fight so I think Marciano vs Patterson would have been great as well.
Ray Robinson vs Charley Burley could have been one for the ages, they were both great fighters, Burley must have been something special for Eddie Futch to say he's the best fighter he ever saw.
