Who Wins the Fight...Margarito or Floyd?

It'll NEVER happen. I know never is a long time. But NEVER. However. I'd say Floyd wins by staying away. Floyd has no problem not fighting. Other guys love to trade, which against Margarito is not a good idea. Floyd dodges his way to a 117-111 decision.

Let us hope that sometime during 2009 Floyd announces his return, and is willing to fight Margarito. We all hope for that. But, sadly the prospects are not good. Floyd doesn't want to fight Margarito because he could get knocked out in front of the whole world.

That was the one single fight of Floyd's career that gives me any indication that he could handle a WW of Margarito's size, range, and power. However, the differences between the Oscar that fought Floyd, and Margarito are too large to ignore. The biggest difference is Margarito's stamina. No way he gasses out by the 8th round like Oscar did. AND, incidentally, had Oscar not gassed out, we all know there is a very likely probability that he would have beaten Floyd. So, there you go.

Just as much as I think Cotto was a bad style matchup for Marg. I think Marg is tailor made for Floyd....The fastest welter vs. the slowest welter...gimme a break. I think Margarito is the worst style matchup for Mayweather to be honest. You remember how every fighter's gameplan is to make Mayweather fight 3 minutes of every round? Yeah, well Margarito would actually do it.

Margarito walked right thru Cotto, so he will do the same to Floyd. Floyd's shots bounce right off Margarito. This suggests that Margarito will have little respect for Floyd's power. Therefore, Margarito will feel free to do what he does....walk Floyd down and go about beating him up. Floyd will move away consistently so as not to get trapped on the ropes. His pot shots will have little effect above justscoring points. Early rounds go to Floyd. But, Margarito continues to hunt his man down. The fight will play out like this with great probability until either Floyd gets caught or until Floyd goes into his little "rope a dope light" thing. Either way Floyd now sustains punishment and Margarito starts towin rounds. As Floyd gets tired and beat down, Margarito gets into Floyd with a long flurry of rights, lefts, and uppercuts. Many are blocked with Floyd's arms, but as the fight proceeds, many shots start to land. Margarito again is winning rounds. Continue down this path until Margarito finally hurts Floyd and finishes him, or beats Floyd with a UD. How often does Floyd rely on his power to keep opponents off of him? How often does Floyd fight in the middle of the ring? The answer to both: Not often. He relies on his legs, so he can slowly back up, back up, back up, all the while throwing shots, and when he gets to the ropes, he quickly spins away and gets back to the middle of the ring so he can repeat the process. So, whatever your prediction is, it's fine, I just think you are fooling yourself if you point to the Cotto fight as formula for a Margarito victory. Floyd won't be fighting like Cotto... believe it.

It's gotta come sooner or later (sooner we hope). Floyd must come out of hiding to fight a legitimate Welter Weight. It can only be Margarito. Only a win over Margarito can secure (or salvage) Floyd's legacy. Who wins and why? IMO Margarito will bludgeon his way thru the vaunted Mayweather defense. Cintrol was teeing off and landing FLUSH power shots.. That were snapping Margarito's head back.. and he just kept Coming.. If Cintron Blocked high.. Marg would go Low always wearing him down..Throwing punches and hitting ANYTHING.. arm,chest,neck wherever.. In the Cotto Fight.. Cotto danced, Cotto Ducked, Cotto threw 5 shot combos that all landed flush.. He threw deadly power shots that once again sent Marg's head snapping back.. Cotto fought the fight of his life,tried every trick in the book.. Margarito JUST KEPT COMING.. Throwing punches from odd angles with that scary REACH.. This shit is simple... Marg will throw...Marg will miss. Floyd will counter and land punches in bunches unanswered. Floyd will hit and move. Floyd will block whatever spirited efforts Marg tries. Floyd will clinch when they get close. Floyd will smile while doing it. Floyd is not Cotto..he wont punch and move backwards..he will clinch...he will go tthe body. Floyd wins 12-0. This is a mismatch. Ever seen what happens to guys who try to clinch Margarito? Boom boom boom. Everything you said was Floyd does this, Floyd does that. What about what Margarito does. It will be more than "swing and miss." If Margarito swings and lands; what does Floyd do? Move away with potshots? If Margarito lands consistently,especially when Floyd is covering up on the ropes; What happens then? You're putting alot of emphasis on Floyd being able to block all of Margarito's shots. I say Floyd will be successful early on, but after a while things are gonig to get hard because Margarito can't hurt by Floyd and Margarito has great stamina. How can you explain this away?

Floyd wins every round....with ease. I don't see the sense. How does he do it? Jab and run, jab and run, etc....all night? I expect Margarito would walk right into Floyd and eventually start to get into him. Once that starts, Floyd won't be able to withstand the onslaught. I haven't seen any arguments that can get around this analysis.
