I was amazed to recently read about Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s interest in his internet popularity. He said he has more "haters" on the internet than any other boxer and he cites this as proof of his stature in boxing.
Now Floyd, if you're between ho's and reading this, listen up. I love ya. No "hate" here. I was one of the early fans way back when you were pure and unadulterated by the commercialism of boxing. But, you lost me along the way. I suspect I'm not the only one.
First it was Kostya Tszyu, then Margarito, then Miguel Cotto. Excuses abound about why these fights never materialized, but, they're not acceptable. Always taking the easy money has hamstrung your legacy. You've pulled a hammie, homie. Nevertheless, you can rectify all this in one fight....and his name is ANTONIO MARGARITO. The boxing public needs to see some GRIT and taking that fight would fit the bill. Win or lose, you gain respect. That's the only thing that's lacking at this point.
I dare you.
Yea because that Margarito win did Wonders for Paul Williams Career???
As soon as Williams beat Margarito, that didnt get Williams enough respect to even crack the ton ten p4p...and that was When Winky Wright was in the top 10.
And this was the Margarito would just beat undefeated Cintron and Clottey..
and was a champion for 5 straights years.... remember that Margarito...
"The most feared man" in the world Margarito...!!!
What did they say about Margarito after Williams beat him????
"Aww he is a limited fighter"
"Aww lost to people like larry dixon and he got 4 loses"
"I knew Margarito was Overrated"
Why so much hate?
And that was the nice guy Paul Williams who beat Margarito....
So imagine the excuse if Floyd( the bad guy) beat Margarito...
"Aww We all knew Floyd would beat Margarito"
"Aww Floyd didnt brawl with Margarito, and thats how he won"
:Aww Now Floyd has to fight the rest of TOP RANK fighters to prove he is the best.."
"Aww floyd still sucks, because he waited until Margarito was out of his prime to fight him"
"Aww Margarito, has been in too many battles, thats why he lost to Floyd.."
Margarito brings nothing to Floyd Legacy wise, and Definitely MONEY AND DRAW WISE...
You're a couple of years out of date, my friend. Margarito is the man now. Furthermore, NOBODY destroys Miguel Cotto. Certainly not Floyd Mayweather. Margarito did. Proof enough of Margarito's credentials.
Floyd could have a fight with Margarito if he wanted it. He just don't want it...AND FOR OBVIOUS REASONS!
The problem with the Castillo bouts, besides the fact that Castillo really won the first fight, is that those fights occurred many years ago. After that Mayweather opted to fight alot of lesser boxers to enhance his record. (Example...fighting Gatti instead of the undisputed 140 lbs champ Kostya Tszyu) Calzaghe, on the other hand, began his career with wins over great fighters and ended it with wins over great fighters....assuming he is at the end of his career. The only notable win that Mayweather can be credited with during the last third of his career is Oscar DeLeHoya and DLH although past his prime, gave Floyd one hell of a fight. Furthermore, DLH is no Bernard Hopkins. Never was. Never will be.
No. Floyd still has some work to do.
Who was Calzaghe's first great win and who was his second? There was a long gap with substandard fighters.
And yes, recently, Joe's resume has been better than Floyd.
Originally though, the question was about resumes in general, not resumes in recent times.
I was amazed to recently read about Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s interest in his internet popularity. He said he has more "haters" on the internet than any other boxer and he cites this as proof of his stature in boxing.
Couldn't be this site or he'd be saying "I have the most haters in boxing... after Joe Calzaghe..."
I have no doubt that Floyd has perused these forums. I bet he even has a site name. If so, then, Floyd: Even your most loyal nuthuggers really want to see you man up and fight Margarito. The only ones that don't are fearful that you might lose. Now, I can understand why you don't want to take on Margarito. When he beats people, it's usually devastating. Of course you don't want to get brutally knocked out in front of the whole world. But, at some point you need to take one of the big boys, for the sake of your legacy. Don't you want to be considered "great?" You're almost there. A comeback against another weak opponent is no comeback at all. Do it right. Just do it baby....for boxing.

Hopkins beat on a guy moving up 10 pounds. Will Oscar get credit for beating Pacman as well. Yet you ignore the fact that Hopkins is 43, 7 years away from 50. The laughable fact is Hopkins is Calzaghes best win to date
Nothing laughable about beating Bernard Hopkins. I think Hopkins himself would take issue with what you just spewed.
I think Castillo has a better claim on winning against Mayweather than Hopkins has on Calzaghe.
Mayweather's second win over Castillo was pretty convincing though.
Hopkins is the best name on either resume I think. The Pavlik win shows that Hopkins isn't as old as we thought post-Calzaghe.
Please, for the love of god, do not ever say that the Jones who lost to Calzaghe is better than the 135 Castillo that Mayweather fought. That is absurd. That lightweight Castillo was one of the best fighters of the past 15 years... seriously. His resume is ridiculous, and he won almost every fight he had there. If he didn't, he usually avenged it in a rematch. Or, in the case of Mayweather, he has a terrific argument that he won the first fight.
Hopkins 08 >>>> Castillo 02 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jones 08

UMM Mayweather resume is better than Calzaghe and fought better opposition. RJJ was shit and Hopkins fight could have gone to Hopkins, that is a disputed fight
Disagree that Mayweather has fought better opposition than Calzaghe. Nobody on either boxer's resume was greater than Roy Jones, Jr. or Bernard Hopkins. Only Jose Luis Castillo can compare... and Castillo really won his first fight against Mayweather (total screw job by the judges on that one). Calzaghe beat RJJ up in a rather embarrassing fashion and convincingly outpointed Hopkins.
No. You're very wrong on this one.
definetely.
No one has turned around and said Floyd is shit.
People actually still think Calzaghe is no good. lol
Of course Calzaghe is going to draw alot of haters. He beat RJJ and Hopkins. That's too threatening to ignore...I don't care what all the excuses are.
But, everybody wants Floyd to man up against Margarito. Even his nuthuggers know Floyd needs it to shore up his waning ATG credentuals.
Calzaghe gets way more hate than Floyd.
definetely.
No one has turned around and said Floyd is shit.

people think being millionaire changes your personality, it doesn't.
50 cent blows Floyd away in terms of money but he goes on the internet forums all the time

Hey Floyd... this guy typed enough shit about Hatton beating you to fill a dissertation.
He's a #1 fan for sure.
Floyd, don't pay attention to these guys. Just more clingers and moochers to have to deal with. Just listen to what I'm saying. Get a fight with Margarito immediately. Shock the world. Bring your lost fans back into the fold. All it would take is a bit of true GRIT, to secure your reputation. Don't do it for the money. The fight will sell itself. Do it for the pride, that's the stuff all great fights are made from.
Time's a wastin. Tick tock, tick tock....
Yeah, do it for your fans, do it for Boofdatruth, SweetPee:op: ,Diego Fuego, Flawless Sonic Flood, man Floyd, you truly have the worst fans in the world, those are the kkk of boxingscene, you guys are at least are all minded lovers, you sick basterds, no wonder Floyd senior hates floyd junior, dad is ashamed of his son, for being a assmaster like ellerbe
Olympic medal, Hernandez, Diego, Castillo twice, Gatti, Judah, Oscar, & Hatton. Multiple world titles in multiple divisions. He always said he wanted to win an olympic medal & win 5 titles in 5 different divisions within a 10 year period & thats what he did & made a lot of money doing it. No he is out. Smart.
1 of the most ironic things about Floyd is that it seems like his haters are the people the most obsessed with him.
