Man, oh man... Chad Dawson seems to have one of those personalities that are kind of too nice... He is kissing Calzaghes nutts to try and get a fight with Calzaghe. But is that the way he should be going at it?
Should Chad Dawson attack the kessler, lacy wins of Calzaghes career. By saying stuff like wow, you fought those two ****ers but who did they fight to deserve a fight with you? I'm bad chad dawson mother ****ers and I beat Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver. Who the **** did Lacy beat? A shot robin reid to get a shot?
Who did Kessler beat to get a shot at Calzaghe? ****ing mundine?
Btw, I am a calzaghe fan and I personally think Calzaghe would whoop the shit out of dawson because I think Calzaghe is the better boxer, better stamina, better workrate. But I think Chad Dawson hits harder, since Calzaghe has broken ass hands...
But this fight still intrigues me personally.
Go to wales and beat a sheep up
That surely will get Joe pissed...
My man gully.....Too funny dude too funny.....all joking aside he would have to bring alot more to the table money wise....Lefty

chad has to be 40+ years of age to fight calz
if the fight don't happen I'm cool with it. Joe earned the right to retire, but I just hate how almost every person I run into America still claim Calzaghe is a fraud and is ducking dawson. It gets really annoying to hear those idiots over and over again.
I'd respect there opinion more if they told me how dawson would beat Calzaghe.
Calzaghe's earned the right to retire. No doubt about it.
And the people will always point to the next guy in line and say, "his turn." So you have to expect that.
But the guy they are pointing too now is a complete, athletic fighter that Calzaghe can't AND won't beat just by throwing alot of shots. Which, let's face it, is how he beat Roy, Hop, and Lacy. Bravo to him.
Against Dawson we test Calzaghe's mettle. What's he going to do with the opponent is just as fast? The opponent is stronger and cracks harder?
I'd say, stay away from him.
And that's exactly what he's doing. No hard feelings.

chad doesnt brings nothing for joe..... he should forget about this... and move on with his career :boxing:
Screw Dawson
40 year old Glen "12 losses" Johnson beat the shit out of Dawson and got robbed!
Dawson is just another overrated Yank
and Vitali is the best HW in the divisions lowest moments.......tell his Spongebob Square Head ass to stop callin' my boy Lennox before he send a couple of Yardies to finishin' the chop job he started on his face years ago......:lol1:
Chad is the TRUTH at 175....
utter rubbish, Paulie got outboxed so to claim he is the better boxer is proven false, not only that he couldn't cope with Hattons Power, every clean shot dipped his knee's even the jab.
Hatton's movement and footwork totally negates Paulie's jab and that's all he really has.
true story.
I said every single time I posted on this fight that the only tool Malignaggi really has in top class company is that jab.
When has anyone jabbed Hatton to death anyway. He's susceptible to counter hooks, we've known that since 10 seconds into the Eamon Magee fight years ago.
Paulie the CLEAR better boxer punching power or not lost the fight because he left his marquee punches in the gym.utter rubbish, Paulie got outboxed so to claim he is the better boxer is proven false, not only that he couldn't cope with Hattons Power, every clean shot dipped his knee's even the jab.

They need to give Calzaghe a truckload of money.
I doubt it happens.
One thing is for sure, Joe fights again. He must look at Hatton fighting a guy like Malignaggi and getting more for that fight than Joe will probably ever get and think what the phuck?
Chad is a fine boxer. He may well get into the Hall in a good few years. But, at the moment, he has no name. He's not the type of fighter right now that could follow on from B-Hop and RJJ, as far as Joe is concerned.
Whereas Hopkins and Jones draw PPVs, Chad does not right now. Joe doesn't need him, and he certainly doesn't want him.
Joe's motivation for the sport is now waining. I saw that agianst B-Hop (although he improved a lot against Roy). Joe would really struggle to get up for a Dwason fight. For that reason alone, i hope it doesn't come off.
Johnson did lose to some less than stellar opposition though and not at the start of his career.
It'd be a fun fight with Calzaghe though and it's a damn shame it never happened. I don't ever see Glencoffe winning it as he's tailor made for Calzaghe, but it'd be a bloody good scrap.
thing is fighters sometimes don't bring what they have to the table. for instance look at Paulie and Ricky, Paulie the CLEAR better boxer punching power or not lost the fight because he left his marquee punches in the gym. he didn't double up on his jab, he stood in front of Hatton, he kept clinching instead of moving and many other things just weren't there for him. he had an off night and he lost, that doesn't make him a bum u know, he still beat good guys right? that's the same with Johnson so when people like this Wlad kid comes in here disrespecting him it's frustrating, he probably never laced up a pair of gloves yet is here acting like he KNOWS it's just that simple..
sometimes things interfere with a Boxer's mentality or preparation and that's not to make excuses but it DOES matter and affect the fight. not saying this happened with Johnson's losses but it's a possibility u know? anything could have happened but to judge him based solely off his losses is pure ignorant and shows no intellect in terms of this sport..
another thing is Johnson lost a lot of decisions where the rounds were close, a lot of them were robberies and a lot were not but to only be stopped 1 time by TKO not even a KO in 12 losses is pretty ****ing amazing. he lost to some regular level fighters but he lost MORE to TOUGH world class past or present champions and that's the truth. most of those losses were toss ups where he had the unfortunate luck of coming up short. Johnson is a TOUGH fight for anyone man so to diss him like that is wrong, he's one of the ONLY true fighters in Boxing today he should get his respect, he paid his dues..
Johnson also has been on the wrong end of a ton of shitty decisions.
Either way, 12 losses or not, he is a better fighter now than he was back when he was losing (and those losses shouldn't be losses in more than a few of those bouts).
But he's not as good as he was a few years ago.
Not sure how many of his shitty decisions are actually that shitty. I thought Woods could easily have won at least two of the decisions instead of just the one he did, the Sheika one looked OK to me and the decision to Ottke was definitely fair - and I hate that cunt. Maybe the rest all were, I dunno, but he's probably just lost a lot of close ones. But then he's always competitive at the very least.
Anyway, it's one of the few fights I'd like to see for Calzaghe but I don't think it'll actually prove anything or make much money.

you trippin' man, Glen Johnson beat Roy Jones Jr far far worse than Joe did recently and did it YEARS ago, he's beaten Tarver and MANY MANY solid opponents, he has a hard to hit style which Joe Calzaghe himself would have trouble with. he's another Emmanuel Augustus in that sense where the losses have stories behind them, he wasn't just brutally beat he just fought a fight, time ran out and the points added up to the other guys favor but Glen Johnson is a rough, tough fight for ANYBODY right now even to the man who gave him his 1st loss at Middleweight.
by saying Glen "12 losses" Johnson you don't insult Johnson you insult your overall intelligence for Boxing because any TRUE Boxing fan should know that loss counts can deceive you, Margarito has 5 losses but your average viewer of this great sport wouldn't know that 3 of them came in his first 12 fights due to inexperience as a kid who was fighting much older and experienced guys. he then doesn't lose again until the Santos loss which to MOST that fight was horse shit and then to Williams whom even though he didn't win he still left the impression he CAN beat Paul if he adjusted his game plan.. all understandable losses but you wouldn't know that would you? you see "5" under his loss column and he's a bum right? same with Johnson, it doesn't matter how good he does and how difficult of fights he gives opponents as long as it says "12" under his loss column he's a bum right? choose another sport yo this one ain't for you..

There'll always be a young contender for Calzaghe to fight. After Dawson it'd be the likes of Froch, Bute or even, god forbid, Taylor. Or probably Kessler again.
A line has to be drawn at some point and unless Dawson can make it worth Calzaghe's while I suspect the line is going to be drawn right about now.
Screw Dawson

who the hell had heard of joe calzaghe till he beat a useless roy jones and got a controversial decision win against hopkins...both close to 40 yrs old.
Wow... I have to say... that was a solid as **** response.
Don't forget the comparison between Adamek and Kessler... undefeated, protected Eurobums.
Clearly neither are true, but I've heard that label applied to both.
If only Dawson had a Lacy on his resume... That would be epic.
Thread starter: Nothing. Calzaghe wants to retire. I don't blame him. Dawson actually hasn't really done enough to be the last guy before retirement... he's one of a few who could have a legit case that they are the guy Calzaghe should fight if he is going to fight again.

He needed to be born 4 years ago.
Calzaghe is 37 and wants to retire, who can blame him with the Habit of people throwing ever more names at fighters at the end of their career.
Calzaghe is nothing but if he beats Lacy i'll say he's good... He wins
Lacy is shit, but if he beats Kessler i'll say he's good... He wins
Kessler is a Eurobum but if he beats Hopkins then i'll say he's good.. He wins
Hopkins is old but if he beats Jones then i'll say he's good... He wins
Jones was shot but if he beats Dawson i'll say he's good...
Broken record, get a grip.
