As much as i would like to see Hatton with this fight for the reason being.....(I cant stand feather fisted fighters), i dont see him being able to do anything better than what Cotto did to Malignaggi. Malignaggi has every advantage over Hatton with the exception of power. Cotto was a much more polished boxer, with better footwork and more power than Hatton. Even with that power, he couldnt put Malignaggi away. So my question is.....How can Hatton win?
Yea, I was gonna say....
One thing that just about every one of Cotto's opponents have said is that they were shocked by his hand speed. He's definitely got very deceptive handspeed.
I've read about that as well.
I'd rather not get too deep into this subject, I don't think much of Hatton. I'll leave it as that.
Abos,
Are you serious?

Hatton's got quick feet and hands. His only problem is he jumps in straight ahead too much with his chin up. Cotto is better at cornering his opponent with angles and footwork, and jabbing inside. I think if anything Big Floyd will have Hatton jabbing inside more. Floyd exposed the lead left hook Hatton likes to use.
It only took him 4 minutes to figure Paulie's movement out, corner him, and knock him down. People can say he "fought Cotto's fight" all they want. In reality Paulie isnt that great of a mover. He actually had more success int he middle of the ring throwing combinations while Cotto stood with his guard up.
I think he meant Judah.
but that still wouldnt make sense being that Judah legitimately knocked down Mayweather and was kicking his ass until he broke down mentally.
First time I see eye to eye with you, what a surprise.
He was talking about Cotto at 140.
That makes two of us.

hatton probably won't bust up paulie like cotto did... cotto was not a true jr. welter but hatton is.
Mayweather leftover you mean the same Corley who also rocked Mayweather. For once you're right this isn't something to debate about, you're obviously wrong.

Cotto was weight drained at 140.
And he broke his hand.
Hatton's foot speed and head movement makes it a different fight too. Cotto stood in front of Paulie with his guard up during stretches of the fight.
Cotto also got rocked by Mayweather's left overs. You make it sound as if tough...this isn't something to debate about.

Hatton iS MORE of a pressure fighter then Cotto.
Hatton has quicker feet, better chin and more stamina. Paulie will have more trouble getting his distance against Hatton then he did Cotto. That is the difference.
I agree. And Cotto also can't clinch, Hatton can effectively create clinches to his advantage and if he doesn't overdo it they can work to his advantage. however if he tries to hit and hold all the time he will get on the ref bad side quickly and won't be able to do it at all. I don't know about this fight. I think it will go to a decision but i don't know who will pull it out. Depends on how well Hatton is moving i guess. IF Paul can tag him on the way in often enough that will quickly demove Hatton from wanting to fight that way and we all know that's the only way Ricky can win. He can't win a boxing match vs a taller more reachy guy like Malignaggi.
And that weight drained Cotto, would probably still ko any version of hatton.
I forgot Cotto was a world beater.:ugh:
Hatton was #1 at 140 even when Cotto was in it so pull your head out of your arse!
Cotto and Hatton at 140 is a competitive and a close fight.
A pick-em fight.
hatton better learn how to cut off the ring better and find out how to neutralize malignaggi's jab................. retirement is being dangled over his head in this fight. his own words, hatton better be serious with this fight.
Good question, one that only the fight can answer. But I think Hatton will bring more consistent aggression, higher work rate. Cotto is more skilled but he wastes time occasionally. Hatton will be gunning and grinding him down, tiring him and looking for some big shots post round 8, quite likely to the body. A KO is a big ask given Paulies reach, skills and chin, but a TKO is certainly possible given all of that.

Agreed except for the highlighted part, Cotto is a fighter you could outbox if you're a good boxer and paulie M was impressive even in losing to him.

Agreed with everything but the bold. Cotto has some of the most underrated footwork/balance in the business.
Aside from that, which I don't really think will make a difference in the fight, I agree with most of what you said.
Hatton is absolutely more of a pressure fighter, and Paulie will be incapable of backing him off. Now, Cotto's problem with Paulie was, IMO, he had an identity crisis. Paulie was giving him problems, and Cotto didn't know whether to try and box or try and fight.
If Hatton, now with Floyd Sr., does the same thing I think he will lose. If Hatton is Hatton I think he will win.
Yes better chin...Don't get Cotto's chin at 147 twisted with what we've seen at 140.
Cotto was rocked by hard hitting Ricardo Torres, Hatton was rocked by a light punching lightweight Juan Lazcano. I think the only thing twisted here is your judgement.
