And Rogaine was spouting nonsense. It was sad.
Rogaine said stuff like 'ThERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BOXING STAR'
Uh okay Rogaine.
He also said:
"I'm a boxing fan! I AM! I have all the great fighters like Pep on DVD"
uh okay Rogaine.
Funniest part was Chack liddel (that wormy piece of shit) talking shit about Floyd saying his sparring partners would destroy Floyd. cut to Floyd laughing and calling MMA fighters bums and failed boxers.
interestingly enough Chack gets KOed by Rampage by one easy left hook (basic boxing). Floyd goes on to easily beat Oscar.
Too funny.

lol when calz has his face on paper money then we can start talking about this debate. until then Pac >>>>> Calz
Maybe he hinted it years ago, but I doubt he would say that now. If he was humble, he would have mentioned it after the fight. Even Tyson gave props to Larry Holmes. Marciano cried after defeating Louis. Larry Holmes pleaded with the ref to stop the fight against Ali.
Joe taunted and shook his ass.
I never read Joe's book so I don't know if he made any comments about Roy...the only thing I remember was after the Tarver (I) loss or maybe it was (II), that Joe said it was the first time Roy looked "Human." I think it was fight one.
I think Joe was quite happy to have Frank Warren...especially after hearing Frank's side to the story. Which I know, he is a promoter, but it is always interesting to hear.
The Promoter works for you.
It doesn't work that way for Frank Warren. He gets you by the bollocks from day one after you've signed with him.
As for Joe's book, i've read it.
Joe slagged Roy off in his book.
Joe said that Roy was showing signs of coming back after the Tito fight on Jones - Calzaghe 24/7.
He is good at contradicting himself, i'll give ya that!
I can. Did you ever see Lou vs. rogan on boxing vs. mma on espn? Even though I know Rogan and I think he's basically a douchebag, lou really isn't what you would call a great thinker.
yeah i actually did see that.... lou had no comeback for what rogan was saying
yup. that's what I've been saying all along. Joe is a prick. Joe's fans think that he isn't and that he's humble. What a joke, no way these new fans have even watched the fights you're mentioning.
Speaking of which...I think I'm going to start a new thread.
Forgot to mention: Danny Williams after he beat Tyson said Mike isn't the same fighter and hasn't been for a long time and that's why he {Danny} gave himself a chance to win.
Am not saying you're wrong Reed, but remember who Joe Calzaghe's promoter was?
Frank would say 'jump', and Joe would say 'How high?'
I think Joe himself admitted that he wouldn't have beaten prime Roy.

yeah, why try right?

If Joe had turned up at one of Roy's press conferences and started 'Calling him out'' Roy would've been like, ''Who are you?''
Tell that to Tarver.
It's always good to shout a bit; people start to ask: "who is that?"
The point is, if Joe wanted the fight he had to come to the States. He would have also had to move up in weight, but if he didn't want to, he at least needed to fight here to get his name out there, and then when he got the fight he could decide to move up just for Jones Jr.
Yeah you're right. He was a nobody. Like say...Tarver. Tarver worked to get his shot. Joe just talked a big game and sat around in his backyard. Big difference.
If Joe had turned up at one of Roy's press conferences and started 'Calling him out'' Roy would've been like, ''Who are you?''
I was in that tax bracket. I'll admit to that.
And as far as am concerned, the Glen Johnson fight didn't happen.
Not sure what you mean. Are you saying you didn't see the Johnson fight so the fight didn't exist in your mind?
So you didn't watch the Glen Johnson fight?
I said it one of my posts that I kept thinking about this fight. I thought to many people were thinking with the hearts instead of their heads.
Hopkins fight didn't happen because Bernard wouldn't move up...he was focused on 160; easier competition for good money.
The Roy fight didn't happen because of Joe.
thats what it came down too...
So you didn't watch the Glen Johnson fight?

Maybe i didn't realize how shot Roy was but i didn't think he'd get beat that bad.
I just think Joe stands for a little bit of credit for what he has achieved and help people try to understand why fights with prime Roy and Hopkins didn't happen.
the whole time leading up to the fight, i hoped roy won... and if he had anything left maybe he could do it.. but i always said it depends on what hes got left... no fighter has EVER put there hands down and stuck there face in roys range and not gotten hit.... roy couldnt even pull the trigger...
the reality of the matter is, last time roy beat an elite fighter was 2003 against Tarver, and he barely won...
thats the reality of it.... been KOed twice, and beat 3 contenders...
2 months shy of 40... thats a win that cannot redeem Joe as the real deal...
if that was prime roy... id be like holy shit Joe is god....
but it isnt the case

so when joe was sticking his face in roys gloves and roy was doing nothing....
your first thought was... joe is Fantastic!
not... wow roy is SHOT
