Even just at the beginning of the year I would have said the state of the welterweight division was one of the best things going on in boxing.
But with Floyd gone, Cotto losing his 0, and Paul williams moving up, what else is there? Seems like an exciting welterweight division has all of a sudden lost a lot of its appeal for me. Sure I'm waiting to see how Cotto will come back and what the ceiling is for Berto, but as for matchups at WW, I can't really think of a superfight I really wanna see. Marg vs Mosley? eh, whatever. Never been a big fan of Marg. He's a little too one dimensional for my taste.
Is it just me or do you guys know what I mean?
of course since the last big welter weight fight was in july
Exactly. Nothing of major significance has really happened at welter since cotto/margarito.
The real talent in the division needs to get the ball rolling. All we're getting is "this guy calls out other dude" and "other dude rejects this guy's offer". Williams-clottey....mosley-margarito....two potentially awesome fights shitcanned in the past few monthes.
It is only boring right now because no one is fighting. It is still the most stacked division in boxing right now IMO.
yeah, but what potential superfights do you see coming up? I don't really see any. Unless Cotto rallies a huge comeback or Berto turns out to be elite level. No fight involving Mosley really interests me because he's in the twilight of his career so Marg vs Mosley didn't really interest me to begin with.
Remember, they fought each other {Margarito/Cintron, Cotto/Mosley, Williams/Quintana, then Cotto/Margarito} and now it seems like Margarito just want to face Cotto in June. Then you have Clottey and Berto, good but ordinaries.
