Hilarious thread. It's always the same whenever a British fighter is involved. Before the fight the opponent is either going to school or KTFO whichever British fighter is involved and after they devalue the win by saying the fighter they backed was overrated or shot. Terrible winners and terrible losers.

Just bumping this considering the flood of wisdom that Ricky Hatton is past it because he looked bad in his last fight (which he won by ten rounds to two at least) while his opponent looked fantabulous.

All paulie can use against hatton is skill... he cant out slug hatton...that would never happen and if he chose to fight in that style he gets stopped via TKO within 7. paulie HAS TO stick and move...avoid the ropes...he needs to keep it in the middle of the ring...he has to...because with distance in the middle of the ring there is NO WAY hatton gets the best of him... hatton can NOT outbox paulie... Hatton managed to cut the ring down on Mayweather i dont think he is going to have trouble with a guy who constantly moves one way to his leftand is open for overhand rights as Ngoudjo showed i dont think Hatton will try and outbox Paulie thats my point he will grab him a force him onto the backfoot so Malignaggi wont be able to hold the centre of the ring imo but i agree Hatton tries to Box to much or Mayweather has changed his style to much he will get outboxed that just aint his game the old Hatton beast Paulie easily imo

I agree with both of these statements... for the first half of the fight hatton did give mayweather a run for his money...he was behind on points but he was giving mayweather a good tough fight...and thats exactly what i expect to happen in the paulie fight... so after 6 i expect hatton to be ahead probably 4 rounds to 2 rounds...however after that I expect hatton to begin slowing down and paulie catching up... hatton cant chase paulie all night long...he doesnt have the stamina to do so... i've always viewed paulie as a less talented/skilled B-level version of floyd mayweather...its clear that paulie looks up to floyd as he posses a less talented/skilled style of floyd. paulie wants space in this fight...he needs to avoid being on the ropes or stuck in the corner...stick and move...make hatton chase and miss him all night...when hatton gets in close he needs to tie up and get it broken up by the ref...dont allow hatton to hold and hit... when hatton gets inside and begins to hold and hit paulie needs to tie his other hand up and get the seperation he needs. if paulie keeps the fight at a distance then he wins it easily because when there is distance hatton will have little chance to outbox paulie...that just isnt going to happen... if he can sucker paulie to fight in close quarters then hatton will probably break paulie's jaw (like cotto did) and it will be a brutal fight in which paulie cant win...there is NO WAY paulie can outslug hatton...that will never happen... so those are pretty much the two most likely scenarios and I just believe at this stage of his career hatton wont have the stamina to attempt to brawl paulie for all 12 rounds...especially if paulie keeps sticking and moving...hatton will wear down faster if he is constantly missing and chasing paulie and thats how i see it going. see the point that I make is gettign space with Hatton is one of the toughest things to do in a ring.

Secondo me avevano bene in mente che finivano on the inside (infatti solo così si spiega che facessero i guanti con Baldomir che era altrimenti inutile) ma Floyd avrebbe preferito stare a tirare da fuori, dove erano sicuri che Hatton non avrebbe combinato niente. Infatti è solo più avanti che Roger gli dice stai lì e non ti preoccupare, avendo visto che anche da lì dominava. Il gioco di Floyd da vicino mi ha lasciato di stucco, non me lo aspettavo, anche in altri incontri non era mai stato così a legare continuamente tirando gomitate in clinch. Insomma quello che voglio dire è che Mayweather aveva un piano in cui era incluso che avrebbe dovuto dare lavoro sporco da vicino, perchè Hatton ci sarebbe arrivato anche se lui non voleva. Considera che Paulie non ha la potenza di Floyd, quindi farà ancora più fatica a tenerlo lontano e non è altrettanto bravo in clinch (o almeno non lo sappiamo ancora...). Grande. Hatton made Mayweather uncomfortable for six rounds and Mayweather is considerably more accomplished, elusive and powerful than Malignaggi. his foot speed made mayweather uncomfortable, but all that speed and aggression meant little to nothing because he failed to land anything effective with it. paulie said right after the mayweather fight that i am going to the same thing to hatton when we fight. i am not saying its going to be the same outcome . . . but theres almost the blueprint there, survive the early aggression and break him down later when he tires. all paulie has to do is stay away and tie up. i dont know if paulie really posses the tools to do, but i would venture a guess he has as fast hands as mayweather and should be able to play keep away and counter effectively. hatton in his last fight has been leading with his head, gloves down and no movement. if hatton is going to be charging in the same way, he's in for a long night.

I would not say uncomfortable as Mayweather seemed perfectly comfortable wrestling and roughousing Hatton, but that's usually not his favorite choice. He seemed comfortable? He said otherwise.

Mayweather did much more sticking that moving in that fight. And he gave every single drop of rought stuff back to Hatton.
