i like PTI but Wilbon and Kornheiser dont know shit about Boxing or MMA for that matter. They have no credibility on the subject. i would have preferred them have a boxing expert and a mma expert argue their points
UFC shows sellout because its still in its novice stages..
The whole thing is still new to people..
The clever thing they do is by going to places like all over the UK
and having big main events there not no shitty little matchups..
but in saying that it shoudnt even be up for debate against Boxing..
Boxing is a true sport...
The gist: Wilbon still thinks Dana's behind Standgate, Korny does his best "Back in my day" routine and both of them agree that the best athletes aren't boxers anymore because everyone's a pussy.
I still love how "barbaric" is still being tossed around. These guys really didn't help your case.
Didn't it get put back to another date and all new fights got annouced?
Nope
First Shogun was hurt so they put Liddell vs Evans, then Liddell got hurt and they put Hughes vs Alves. A lot of people in the UK were pissed because they paid to see Liddell and got suck with Hughes.
You think if the UFC could sell 55k tickets they wouldn't?? I was just comparing numbers.
It was never canceled, they just put a new main event.

But Hatton's fight was in front of 50k. not hard to make more money is it?

The card got cancelled

Did Newcastle sell out? I remember seeing it advertised up here but there seemed to be next to no interest, i assumed it died on it's arse.
The capacity for the Metro Radio Arena is 11,400. The paid attendance for that show was 8,412.
That card was supposed to be between Liddell vs Shogun so the tickets went fast but they were both injured. It did do well at the box office though, I'm just saying every show you see the guy screams "SOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL OOOOOOOOUUUT" yet most the time it's bullshit.
That card did about 1/4 the revenue of what Hatton vs Lazcano did by the way.

I dunno but when they showed inside the venue it looked full. I know Birmingham, Manchester and London all sold out. Dublin sold out the other day and the card aint on til next year.

But Hatton's fight was in front of 50k. not hard to make more money is it? The card got cancelled and then they put on a new show which had Bisping, Hughes and Alves on the card. I know when they was at the o2 early in the year it reportdly made more revenue than the Take That concert there. Can't deny it when the UFC comes over here it gets hyped and they do sell the venue out. Dublin sold out already for next year.
Haye's fight is tomorrow and it aint sold out, they have had to put on a offer of 2 for the price of 1.
I think it was in June or July. everytime the UFC come to the UK they are breaking records for Venues for sports. When they was in Birmingham the other week they made twice as much as the Amir Khan fight accordin to Steve Bunce.
I dunno if they give tickets away or not but the arenas are always full. It is pretty hard to get UFC tickets. I tried to get some for Manchester, Newcastle and London.
