Mikkel Kessler's promotor Mogens Palle has turned down an offer from HBO for Mikkel Kessler to fight Chad Dawson.
Palle states to danish TV2 that: "Dawson is a cruiserweight squeezing down to 175 lbs and he does not bring enough to the table".
Are you claiming that:
1. Kessler has fought and won against ANYONE worth a damn?
2. Lacy has fought and won against ANYONE worth a damn?
3. Roy Jones Jr. was not shot AT LEAST 3 years ago?
4. Manfredo is a great opponent.
5. Eubanks was in his prime.
It seems like you are. -Get it?
No i suddenly didn't claim that!!!! But in fact it stats what i was saying. Kessler and Calzaghe has to be so much better to get any credit at all. Mention one fighter in the 160-175 division who could top that 5 claims?
In a week Kessler will be calling out Hopkins and Taylor. If the fights don't come on, are they then ducking Kessler ??
You make no sense and I'm tired of trying. The only thing I get from you is crap about the "US blah blah blah." No one is talking about country except biased clowns like you. We're talking about fighters and fights. Find a geography forum if you want to discuss countries.
Why are you so insecure and jealous of the U.S? Get over it.
Didn't the U.S just win the Gold in basketball? Get a clue dumbass.
I am not insecure or jealous. Only a cocky US-fan would come to that assumption. I criticized you - get it!! Why is it, that foreign fighters has to do so much before getting a minimum of credit from US fans? We have to fight you in your backyard. If we lose, we were some EU-trash, if we win it was because we fought a shut US fighter.
If Kessler beats Hopkins, Hopkins was a shot fighter. 2 weeks ago, Hopkins was atg winning over Pavlik. A month ago Pavlik would beat Kessler, Calzaghe, Bute and others with ease - get it :boxing:
It's from an interview Palle gave to danish broadcaster tv2 yesterday. Here's the deal besides the point I wrote about in the opening post which I got from text-tv:
(link: http://sporten.tv2.dk/article.php/id-18001732.html )
"Dawson is not a big name. Mikkel has fought for big bucks and the money in a Dawson fight is not big enough." Palle says.
Q: Can Mikkel beat Dawson?
A: I dont know. It is a big risk for few money. Fewer than Kessler deserves.
Q: Has the relationship to HBO suffered from this?
A: Well we just cannot bow and say thank you sir. We have our own interests as well. Mikkel will fight anyone at SMW, but a fighter dont go up 2 divisions just like that. Look at Pavlik losing to Hopkins.
Q: So Kessler wont go up in weight?
A: If Calzaghe or Hopkins want a fight at 77-78 kilos, we will play along.
Q: When will Kessler fight again?
A: I am not sure. Probably february or march.
Let's see who's worth the risk in February or March.
I just saw this quote/translation on another site. I wonder if Bat can verify this:
Reporter: Is it because you think that Chad would beat Kessler ?
Palle: I dont know, but its too big a risk, for too little money, Mikkel doesn´t deserve that.

I think I can confirm. I'll get back to it a little later. I'm busy sorry.

Kessler is not ducking Dawson. Remember Dawson is fighting at a higher weight class. Ducking is a word I really do not like and it gets tossed around way too much around here. Especially when they say the fighter is doing the ducking, when in fact, more often than not it's the management making the decisions.
It still does not look good for his team though. Palle should have said something like, if nothing else pans out against Froch/Pascal or Lacy/Taylor, then we will consider the Dawson offer. He also could have said Kessler is not ready for the 175lb plunge yet. All would be fair that way.
Kessler should really stop going after the Hopkins/Calzaghe's on the Old Timer circuit and start chasing challenges on the mainstream circuit.
The longer Kessler's team waits, the harder it will become for them to land good fights in the future. I personally think they should have taken the fight. It is a risky one yes but Dawson is willing to take it.
Good post. You are right it's easy to lose context with ducking shit. If Palle said that it would be more respectable. Infact those are somewhat legimate reasons that still do stand, he just didn't say them because he's an idiot, and is very naive to the boxing world.
Money, and nothing ells maid "Us the boxing mecca".
But for Calzaghe, Froch, Bute, Abraham and Kessler it ain't true anymore. Now EU-fighters, who wants to get recognized, has to travel to US in front of few celebrities to fight against poor quality fighters fore less money and less spectators - why??
For years US has been the "world champion" in baseball, ice hockey and basketball, but only to lose when they have to fight abroad!
Maybe it is time be a little humble and Dawson calling out Calzaghe and Kessler says is all !!!!!

Let me ask you and others: What excuse does Dawson legitimitely have for turning down a Kessler fight at a catchweight? He CAN make 168 so 170 cannot be that bad can it?
He has the same excuse Kessler has for being able to move up to 175 for everyone not named Dawson.
Don't bother. We'll all be here when Kessler fights next. And then you can carry on with your logic then. Hopefully you won't need it but somehow I get the feeling you will.

I cannot believe that you dont understand your own logic.
I can now state exactly what you did to another poster: You make no sense and I'm tired of trying.

So Kessler is willing to move up for those two but when the other guy calls him out, he can't?
Hilarious. Man, you've gotta love the excuses on this thread.

As you stated , I simply just wondering why Dawson call out an EU-trash fighter who was the worst earning on a HBO fight ever !!!
You know why - but you simply cant admit it !!!
That is correct. But Germany aint far behind and the US status is slipping. The latest PPV-numbers are appauling.
Kessler can make a big chunk of cash defending his title in Germany against german based fighters. He does not want that however. He wants stateside challenges and recognition. But if his management fail to secure a big fight, there's still plenty of cash to be made in Europe. Losers? The fans.
PPV is a scam, but besides that the economy in America has effected alot of things probably even ppl paying for scam ppv events that should be on paid channels like hbo and showtime since they're already making a ridiculous amount of money on those channels anyways.
Honestly, I wish boxing fans had a brain and stopped paying for ppv events so ppv wouldn't exist no more. If they can't make money off it then it wouldn't exist and boxing would stay on regular paid channels like hbo and showtime. Boxing and Football are starting to make you pay to watch it on tv? What the crap is that, esp when were already paying for the ****ing channels. I want to beat the shit out of the guy who invited ppv for so bad.
stop being so naive. america doesn't CLAIM to be the Mecca of Boxing, its UNIVERSALLY RECOGNIZED as the Mecca of boxing by the world. and Kessler himself said he was ready to make an impact in America.

Kessler calls out LHW Hopkins? Cool. The outcaller moves up!
Kessler calls out LHW Calzaghe? Cool. The outcaller moves up!
Dawson calls out SMW Kessler? Move down. The called out moves up? :wtf:
