Depends if he could make the weight successfully? If he could he'd have Ruiz in his pocket because Ruiz is shit!, but making weight successfully would be a problem IMO.
All you have to do at the weigh-in is wear pants and keep weights tied around your legs.
Believe it or not, I don't favor Calzaghe in this one. Ruiz had the power to knock-down Holyfield and keep him off. He was also strong like bear ;)
What helped Jones in his fight was that he could stay away and didn't engage all the time. Ruiz wanted Jones to come forwards but he didn't.
Heavyweights tend to have problems with people that can move, are fast, and sharp. It was a big advantage for Ali having started out lighter than an actual Heavyweight. Of course, Ali was very young and when he matured, he was a full blown HW with LH ability.
Calzaghe stands in front of you and pitty-pats. I do think this would be annoying to Ruiz and lead to frustration, however; If Ruiz hit Calzaghe, especially to the body, as well as hug his ass and lean on him, I don't know...Ruiz would be favored.
I just don't see Calzaghe being on the level of Toney and Byrd who could stand in front of a HW and make them miss. Calzaghe's defense is his punch-out-put.

I am unsure how Calzaghe would perform moving up at that weight. But if he turned like Jones he might have a chance. The thing about Jones is he would fight on the outside better and catch Ruiz because he was so slow and discouraged.
