yeah it should have been I think. A punchers chance severely disappears in the later rounds and Joe was clearly going into rounds 9,10,11...any stoppage then would've been fine. I'm glad they didn't, Roy proved that he has a massive heart, and nobody can take that away from him now. We all saw it.

The commentators remarked that Roy asked his corner is the eye closed, or something to that effect, suggesting he couldn't see or tell how bad it was and in some pain. I think it could have been stopped, but it would have been interesting to see it if the cut man actually dealt with the cut. Radical idea, and they said they'd done all they could, clearly not.

In any other country that fight would have been stopped. Even in America, if it was anyone other than RJJ it would have probably been stopped. Roy is a warrior for fighting on like that, but the ref and ringside doctors are there to protect the fighters. Roy obviously wasn't going to win it, so why let him stand there while Calzaghe tee's up on his busted up eye? Jones couldn't see, so he couldn't block the punches, so the cut kept on getting worse, it should have been stopped.

I personally would of stopped it. It wouldn't stop bleeding.

they never got control of the cuts . . . i personally was really surprised and disappointed they never got a handle on the cut, and that they never let the cut man into the ring to really work on it properly.

It was a nasty cut caused by a hard left. Props to Roy... Showed the heart of a champion. Seconded, I was actually surprised that all 3 judges had it so one-sided. I had it even after 5 but stopped scoring ater that. Richie Woodall scored the fight on Setanta and had it much closer.

Yea it could have been stopped, it was pretty bad, I wouldn't have really thought "oh WTF why they stopping it". It was constantly bleeding. I respect Roy for continuing the fight like that though.

I thought Jones corner cut man wasn't good he wasn't stemming the blood..he should have used grease. .... Roy Jones is a legend and a warrior they asked him if he wanted to continue and he said he was ok.

i dont think jones would have been able to complain neither, from round 10 or 11 onwards if it had been stopped i dont think jones would have protested much. im not an expert or anything but can anyone explain to me whythey didn't put any vaseline on? also when manny pacquaio fought david diaz he opened up a cut on diaz as well, diaz's corner carried on putting something in the cut it was a little tube filled with transparent liquid anyone know what it was? ________ BUICK V6 ENGINE

Anyone think it should have been stopped? Jones could barely see... If the fight was over here, it would've been stopped but i wouldn't like to see Roy go down like that! He has a heart of a lion and deserved to go the distance against a fighter who dominated him but still went toe to toe with him.
