Before the fight happen.. at the ringside Wright was interview and he said I want to fight Calzaghe anywhere and anytime... Do Wright have the tools to defeat Calzaghe?
boring, joe would tee off on wright when wright turtles up in his defense, it's the worst kid of defense one could use against calzaghe............ winky would get eaten up......especially since not being in the ring in over a year..... plus, it wouldn't happen, at least you would think, it's obvious that winky doesn't have a big fan base, so basically he's not bringing anything to the table, really, but then again, calzaghe has been known to take fights that make you scratch your head, i.e. manfredo.
the turtle defense is something like a punching bag for calzaghe. i'm a winky fan but since being out for so long, he might as well chill and not fight anymore, to be honest.
I don't think Wright would have ever beaten Calzaghe. He's too small, too inactive and doesn't have enough pop. Winky's style works quite well against straight-ahead boxers because he doesn't absorb any punishment, he deflects a lot of it but against Calz he would have to contend with angles, kidney punches and non-stop flurries. Counter punchers are always going to have trouble with Calzaghe purely because of the volume.
Besides which considering the criticism Calzaghe got after fighting Hopkins and Bika why would he need another ugly-ass boring fight?
Yeah Winky has been way to inactive, but i thought he did a fairly good job against Bhop i thought that fight was close.
Some people saw it close, but I was a complete Hopkins shutout. 117-111, Winky played right into his game all night long by abandoning everything that would've worked for him.
It was an ugly, boring fight for sure. But against a guy like Winky, that's what you need to do to win, otherwise you're going to be hitting his gloves all night.

never gonna happen
And a win for Joe over Winky means even less than Bernard's win over Winky last year. Considering this is his longest inactivity period of his entire career, and even last year he was blown up at 170lbs.
That's like Roy picking apart Tito 7 years after Hopkins did it to him, only not as long after.

Nah I don't want to see that. Joe will win a decision. Wright doesn't have the power. And his defense will go against him because Joe wins all of his fights off activity.
Precisely. Joe throws so much Winky would be in a defensive shell and forget to throw punches himself. He'd just be walking around the ring with his hands held up above his head, pawing with the jab.

I think style wise winky would give joe trouble but i cant really envisage there styles making a good fight it would probably be a close but clear UD for Joe.
Winky did have the skills to beat Calzaghe once upon a time, but not anymore.
Hopkins took that kid's soul.
Quoted for truth.
I take something from them, that they can't get back. I take their souls.
-Bernard Hopkins on the Hopkins/Wright countdown.
Winky is way too small.
Calzaghe needs a farewell fight in Wales though,so if he is willing to jump on a plane. I'd go see it,
Calzaghe will rematch Hopkins imo, Hopkins will be making that shit happen as we speak.
Nope he isn't that small..... Wright is 5'10 1/2" Calzaghe is 5'11".....
