GL: Did Kelly Pavlik's loss to Bernard Hopkins shock you?
The Bobfather: No, because when I found out that Kelly was hiding his illness, and maybe it would have been prudent to postpone that fight. I don't want to make any excuses. Bernard fought a great fight, he won the fight, and let's see Kelly when he gets back in the ring. I think that's the best way to handle the situation, he lost the fight fair and square, and I think Kelly will have a lot better days.
Arum was interviewed right after the fight and said nothing about any illness. He can't accept that his fighter is just a one-dimensional come-forward slugger with no boxing ability whatsoever
It definitely looked like something was wrong with Pavlik. Maybe he was sick, but you'd have a hard time convincing me it would have made much of a difference.
No, he's telling the truth. I could see that Pavlik wasn't himself that night, he wasn't energetic and aggressive as usual. But he was too much of a man to declare he was sick and postpone the fight.
He saw the executioner's mask. Come on now. This bickering takes away from a great ahtletic accomplishment. Kelly himself knew he got his ass taken to school
To be honest it did look like something was wrong with Pav but it wasnt no sickness
It was because Hopkins took his game away.
Had Pav won you wouldnt of heard nothing about this..
I'm sorry but Pavlik WAS aggressive and energized the entire night. He stated he was never once tired and kept coming forward throughout the whole duration of the fight even after taking some hard shots. The reason he didn't let his hands go more is because Hopkins didn't allow him. If you go back and really look closely at the fight you'll see that as soon as Pavlik would square up which is how he is effective, Hopkins would either move to the side or throw out a jab to disrupt his rhythm. When Pavlik did get off he couldn't touch Hopkins because he's too elusive, not to mention Hopkins was countering him all night.
I think there was something wrong with Kelly but like one poster said
given Bhops performance a healthy Kelly would have only made it a little more competitive. HE got schooled. What I dont understand is why come out with this BS now BOBBY.
Kelly is gonna be better for getting his ass beat
just like JC is gona be better after getting schooled on Saturday.

A healthy Kelly Pavlik would have KOed Hopkins.
A fighter is only as good as his opponent allows him to be. That's why Pavlik didn't perform as well as he had in the past, he was facing an opponent who wouldn't let him be great.
I highly doubt a rematch will ever materialize that could test your theory.

OMFG Tunney. I lost 90% of my respect for you before when you couldn't give Hopkins any credit, and having ignored racism claims on your part, one now wonders.
Pavlik did not, and would not KO Hopkins. Even if he was very very ill which he wasn't, he would have landed one or two hard shots. He didn't even do that, so to say he would do is pure delusion and borderline other stuff mentioned above.
well, he should have postponed it, shown the medical records of what ever the **** he had, and then fought when he's healthy.seriously, that was a dumbass move if true.first you put your life in jeopardy(depending on what he had) secondly, you put your reputation on the line.its just ****ing dumb.
yeah thats why this smells bs
The bullshit starts i guess!!! this type of shit isnt needed!!! Pavlik is a great fighter but he was beat by another great fighter no need to make up stuff bob!!! Arum is a ****wit!!!
